ARIS BC announces the signing of Vasilis Charalampopoulos, who has agreed to a 2+1-year contract with our team.
Vasilis Charalampopoulos was born on January 6, 1997. Standing at 2.03m, he can play at both forward positions.
The Greek international began his basketball career with Egaleo. In 2012, at the age of 15, he joined Panathinaikos AKTOR on a multi-year contract. He earned a place on the senior team at a young age and went on to win four Greek League championships, in 2013, 2014, 2017 and 2018, as well as four Greek Cups, in 2014, 2015, 2016 and 2017.
During the 2017–18 season, he played for PAOK on loan, averaging 6.8 points, 2.8 rebounds and 1 assist per game. The following season, he joined Lavrio, where he recorded 7.9 points, 2.9 rebounds and 1 assist per game.
In 2019, he signed with Olympiacos, who loaned him to Ionikos Nikaias for the 2019–20 season. There, he produced the best statistical season of his career, averaging 11.7 points, 4.9 rebounds, 1.5 assists and 1 steal per game.
In 2021, he moved abroad for the first time to join Reyer Venezia. Midway through the season, he transferred to Fortitudo Bologna, where he averaged 8.4 points, 3.8 rebounds and 1 assist per game. In the summer of 2022, he signed with Pesaro, recording 9.4 points, 4.7 rebounds and 1.6 assists per game.
In 2023, he remained in Italy and joined Dinamo Sassari, averaging 8.9 points, 3.9 rebounds and 1.8 assists per game.
In 2024, he moved to Türkiye to play for Türk Telekom. However, during the opening game of the BKT EuroCup against ARIS at Nick Galis Hall, he suffered a serious injury that ruled him out for the remainder of the season.
In 2025, he returned to Greece and signed with AEK. Across 42 appearances in the Stoiximan GBL and the Basketball Champions League, he averaged 6.8 points, 3.5 rebounds and 1.1 assists per game.
At international level, Vasilis Charalampopoulos won the bronze medal at the 2013 FIBA U16 European Championship, the gold medal at the 2015 FIBA U18 European Championship, where he was named tournament MVP, and the gold medal at the 2017 FIBA U20 European Championship, where he was once again named MVP. He also won the bronze medal at the 2016 FIBA U20 European Championship Division B, earning another tournament MVP award.
He was first called up to the Greek Men’s National Team in 2017 for the 2019 FIBA World Cup Qualifiers, while he also represented Greece at the 2024 Olympic Games.
