Umana Reyer Venezia takes note of the unfair and flawed decision of the International Basketball Federation (FIBA), to issue the clearance to the player Bruno Caboclo, at the urging of the Partizan Belgrade Club.
The issuance of the recalled clearance, despite a very serious violation put in place by the Athlete, in blatant bad faith and with the guilty concurrence of manager and new Club is totally unacceptable, and will be challenged by Reyer in every forum and by every legal means available, starting with an appeal to the FIBA Appeals Panel.
Likewise, Reyer reserves the right to have the unlawful conduct of the player’s managers and Partizan Belgrade itself – which despite being aware of the contractual obligation in place with Reyer, has proceeded with the transfer request- investigated in the appropriate venues.
It is not tolerable that in a functional and interdependent system such as European basketball a club should take advantage of the performance of a player contractually bound to a potential opponent.
And it is not tolerable the turnaround of players and agents in disregard, not only of contracts, but also of sports programming, investment and the competitiveness of teams.
Reyer is absolutely determined to continue its legal battle against all those involved in this affair and in all possible venues.
Because it is sadly clear that respect for the codes of conduct sanctioned by FIBA itself and the basic sporting values that should be shared by all cannot be entrusted to the individual conscience of those who operate, in any capacity, in our sport.
