Zalgiris Kaunas has started laying the foundations for the upcoming season. The Lithuanian champions have retained two important players, as Edgaras Ulanovas and Lukas Lekavicius will continue wearing the green-and-white jerseys.
The 30-year-old Ulanovas pens a new two-year contract that will see him in the club until the end of the 2023-2024 season.
The forward, who spent last season in Istanbul with Fenerbahce, returned to Kaunas and gradually regained his reputation as one of the team’s leaders. Ulanovas played 32 games in the EuroLeague this season, averaging 8.2 points and 11.2 efficiency points (second on the team).
In the Lithuanian Basketball League, Ulanovas is Zalgiris’ most efficient, putting up 15.8 efficiency per game and the team’s second-highest scorer with an 11.1 average.
Zalgiris has also inked a new three-year contract with Lukas Lekavicius, with the contract running until the end of the 2024-2025 season.
The 28-year-old was the top scorer for Zalgiris in the EuroLeague this season with an average of 10.2 points. He played a total of 32 games, adding 4.2 assists and 10.9 efficiency to the tally.
In the domestic championship, Lekavicius’ stats are even better: the guard from Silute averages 11 points per game, also contributing 4.5 assists for a total of 13.7 efficiency per game.
