Two-time NBA champion Earl Cureton has died at the age of 66. The news started circulating in these minutes on X, also shared by the Philadelphia 76ers and Olimpia Milano.
Born in 1957 in Detroit, chosen in the third round by the Philadelphia 76ers in the 1979 Draft, Cureton played six games with Olimpia Milano in 1983 after winning his first title. It was Dan Peterson’s team, but the player escaped on 11 November to sign with the Pistons.
He made a surprise return to Milan in 1989 and was replaced by Orlando Graham on 12 February 1990. He won a title in 1994 with the Houston Rockets, became coach in 1997 and won an ABA title in 2004.
