Atlanta Hawks general manager Travis Schlenk said to The Athletic that the NBA needs faster COVID-19 tests in order to resume the season.
“If we test everyone who comes in the building today, we’re not going to know if they have it until Wednesday,” Schlenk said. “Even if you come back and test negative today, you can still get it tomorrow. Until we have rapid testing where we can test you and you can wait 10 to 15 minutes is where it really changes the game for us and for the league.
“Time is our friend here. The more time that goes by, the more we learn about this virus. The more time we have, the better.”
The Hawks reopened their facility on Monday.
Before the suspension they were second to last in the Eastern Conference standings with 20 wins over 67 games.
