Top International Prospect Dame Sarr Commits to Duke

The versatile Italian wing leaves Barcelona to join the Blue Devils, seeking NBA preparation

Dame Sarr, one of the most exciting international basketball prospects, has officially committed to Duke University, calling it his “dream school.” After gaining experience with Barcelona in the Spanish ACB and EuroLeague, the 6’8” Italian wing sees NCAA basketball as the ideal next step before the NBA.

“This route is the best next step for me,” Sarr told ESPN, adding that Duke offers the opportunity, repetition, and exposure needed to refine his game.

Sarr impressed at the Nike Hoop Summit, scoring 17 points against elite US high school players, including his future Duke teammates, Cameron and Cayden Boozer. Though his participation sparked tension with Barcelona, Sarr emphasized that his departure happened on good terms.

Expected to play a key role at Duke next season, Sarr will join a stacked roster alongside Isaiah Evans, the Boozer twins, and other high-level talents. He believes his two-way versatility and playmaking will help fill the void left by Tyrese Proctor and Kon Knueppel.
