Despite making a return to Zalgiris after a five-year break this summer, when he signed a two-year deal, Tomas Dimsa will be getting playing time abroad this season.
The 26-year-old will be loaned out to Spanish ACB and EuroCup side Las Palmas Herbalife Gran Canaria.
This will be the third stop abroad for the swingman, as he has played for the Frankfurt Skyliners in Germany and Pallacanestro Varese in Italy before.
With the departure of Dimsa, Zalgiris remains with 14 players on the roster, and this deal is also financially beneficial for the Lithuanian champions.
“We invited Tomas to join the team with no thoughts of a loan, but at this moment in time it seems like the best solution for both sides. He has a valid contract with Zalgiris for the next season, too, so the doors are always open for him to come back,” – noted club director Paulius Motiejunas.
Dimsa only played in one Betsafe-LKL game this season, scoring 3 points and dishing out 3 assists in 16 minutes of action against Siauliai.
