Thunder stayed true to their identity: “We bet on who we are”

Coach Daigneault and Gilgeous-Alexander reveal the mindset that carried OKC to the Western Conference Finals

“We stayed in character.” That’s how coach Mark Daigneault explained the Thunder’s Game 7 blowout over Denver: “We didn’t panic. We bet on who we are, individually and collectively.”

Oklahoma City, the youngest team ever to reach the conference finals, overcame early nerves and beat the Nuggets 125-93.

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, who scored 35 points, admitted he felt anxious before tip-off: “This group could be the best I’ve ever played with. But you never know how much time you’ve got.” OKC now faces Minnesota for a spot in the NBA Finals.
