Emotions are still fresh for ItalBasket, who next week will leave for Tokyo for the Olympics after winning the Pre-Olympic Tournament in Belgrade.

Amedeo Tessitori will be part of the Azzurri’s expedition for the Olympic Games, and in an interview with Corriere di Bologna he talked about his feelings before and after: “Everything happened to me, first Covid, then the injury, three very hard months, in which the idea of being on the National team at the end of June was not taken for granted at all. If anything, the opposite was true. But I stuck it out and it was worth it. If I made it, it’s thanks to the many people who stayed close to me: the Virtus staff, the national team staff, my girlfriend Francesca, my two brothers. Two three workouts a day, alone, all just to play my chance to be there.”
Before Belgrade, the championship won despite the injury: “As a player it’s hard to be out. But it was exciting all the same, I realized that even there at the end of the bench, being an ultras, I could give a hand, be part of that great thing that the team was accomplishing. And I suffered with them until the end, because on paper Milan had the potential to overturn everything even from 0-3, even if the guys were playing very well.”
