Tension in Dallas: Fans ejected during Mavericks’ loss to Kings

Backlash over Doncic trade leads to protests, chants against GM Harrison, and heated exchange with Mark Cuban

The atmosphere was tense at the American Airlines Center as the Dallas Mavericks lost 129-128 to the Sacramento Kings. Several fans were ejected for violating the NBA’s code of conduct, following protests over the blockbuster trade that sent Luka Doncic to the Lakers and brought Anthony Davis to Dallas.

Fans held signs reading “FIRE NICO”, targeting GM Nico Harrison. A heated incident involved Mark Cuban, who shouted back at hecklers: “Shut the f— up and sit the f— down!”, according to footage obtained by ESPN.

Outside the arena, around 1,000 people gathered to protest, wearing shirts and chanting against the front office.

Despite the chaos, Klay Thompson and Kyrie Irving empathized with the fans: “I understand the frustration, Luka was beloved here,” Thompson said. Irving added, “For many, basketball isn’t just a game, it’s something deeper.”
