Steve Kerr finally celebrated win No. 600 as an NBA head coach after the Golden State Warriors beat the Washington Wizards 125-117 on Monday night, snapping a five-game losing streak. Kerr reached the milestone in 943 regular-season games, making him the fourth-fastest to 600 wins in league history behind Phil Jackson (805), Pat Riley (832), and Gregg Popovich (887).

“Not a great basketball game, but we needed the win,” Kerr said, adding that the common thread among elite coaches is having elite talent: “You can’t win in this league without great players.” With Curry and Butler out injured, the Warriors remain in a tight Western Conference play-in race, but welcomed back Draymond Green and Kristaps Porzingis after rest.

Porzingis delivered a game-high 30 points, tying his season high. Kerr also joked about the trip: “We’re on the Kristaps Porzingis reunion tour,” noting Golden State has been facing several of Porzingis’ former teams. Up next for the Warriors: a Wednesday night matchup with the Boston Celtics.
