Last night the San Antonio Spurs announced the release of Joshua Primo.
The news came as a surprise, since just a couple of weeks earlier the Texas team had exercised the 19-year-old guard’s third-year option.
Primo will still earn just under $8.5 million for the next two seasons.
“It is our hope that, in the long run, this decision will serve the best interest of both the organization and Joshua,” said Spurs Sports & Entertainment CEO RC Buford.
Joshua Primo issued a statement to ESPN to bring clarity on the reasons for the drastic separation from the Texas team.
Primo was selected by the Spurs at No. 12 in the 2021 NBA Draft.
