Lega Basket Serie A, in the board scheduled for Friday, will vote to have a Serie A season 2020-2021 with 18 teams without relegations.
It would be the first time since 1948 that the league will end without teams relegating in second division.
The 17 teams of this season will have the rights to participate in the next season plus an 18th team that could be either Torino or Ravenna.
If Italian Federation approves the proposal the Serie A 2021-2022 would be with 20 teams (2 promoted from Serie A2) divide in two groups of 10 teams.
To avoid teams that will not build competitive rosters, Legabasket is thinking about setting a minimum that has to be invested to make the team.
The news was reported by La Gazzetta dello Sport.
