Yesterday was Sergio Rodriguez’s night. “El Chacho” was inducted into Olimpia Milano’s Hall of Fame, amid cheers and a touch of emotion at the Unipol Forum. The pre-game press conference covered various topics, not only his emotions and memories from his Milan days but also discussions on Ettore Messina’s current team and their challenging seasons in Europe. All statements are available on realolimpiamilano.
ON TODAY’S OLIMPIA MILANO
“I think it’s a great team with significant potential, with players in their first year or debuting in the EuroLeague, but also many top players in various positions, with experience and talent. The format is very tough; there are a lot of games in both the domestic league and EuroLeague, and naturally, there are many ups and downs. They need to get through this moment, stay united, and recover because the potential is there. There are many strong teams, but the outlook is promising.”
ON HIS LIFE AFTER RETIREMENT
“I’m doing things that are new to me, like enjoying free weekends with my family. But I’m a basketball fanatic and watch many games, even though it’s not easy with four kids. My future will definitely be related to basketball, but for now, it’s early; I need to figure out what I truly want to do. I don’t miss training and games yet, but that could change in a few months. For now, I feel great, I’m happy, and I’m enjoying life.”
