Kyle Lowry on his future: Whatever will be will be

Kyle Lowry doesn’t know what will happen in the next hours with the trade deadline set for 3pm (ET).
He may have played his last game in Raptors uniform.

Per ESPN, “It was kind of weird tonight not knowing what the next step would be, just with understanding there are things that could possibly be done,” Lowry said. “It was different tonight, for sure.
“I mean, who knows what’s going to happen? No one knows what’s going to happen. But it was definitely, for sure, different.”

“Whatever will be will be, honestly,” he said. “That’s the truth. Whatever will be will be. At the end of the day, everything happens for a reason. You can’t control everything, and in some situations you can, but every decision that has happened that I’ve had a choice in doing has worked out for me very well, and everything will be fine.

Pistons send Delon Wright to Kings for Cory Joseph and two second round picks

The Detroit Pistons and the Sacramento Kings have agreed to a trade.

Per ESPN, The Detroit Pistons are trading guard Delon Wright to the Sacramento Kings for guard Cory Joseph and two second-round picks, sources told ESPN on Wednesday night.

The picks going to Detroit will be a 2021 second-rounder via the Los Angeles Lakers and the Kings’ own 2024 second-rounder, sources told ESPN. The Pistons now own three second-round picks in the 2021 draft, including Charlotte’s, Toronto’s and now Sacramento’s.

Wright, 28, is guaranteed $8.5 million for next season.

Timberwolves reportedly in mix for Aaron Gordon

The Minnesota Timberwolves remain in the Aaron Gordon trade mix along with well-known suitors such as Boston and Denver, according to Marc Stein.

Stein adds that Minnesota had “serious” trade talks with the Magic in late January for Gordon before a bad ankle sprain sidelined him for a month.

Denver Nuggets in pursuit of a forward, reportedly interested in Harrison Barnes, Aaron Gordon

The Denver Nuggets are on the market to add a forward before the trade deadline.

According to Mike Singer the Front Office would have identified Harrison Barnes and Aaron Gordon as two ideal profiles.

This year Barnes is averaging over 16 points, 6 rebounds and 3 assist per game for the Sacramento Kings.

Gordon revealed that he has requested a trade from the Orlando Magic.

 

Tre Mann enters NBA Draft

Florida guard Tre Mann  said to Jonathan Givony that he has decided to leave the Gators to enter the next NBA Draft.

Mann comes from a sophomore year with averages of 16 points, 5.6 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 1.4 steals, shooting with 46% from the field, 40% from three and 83% from the free throw line.

The player, who will sign with an agent, has risen to No.15 on ESPN’s Top 100.

Andre Drummond heading to Lakers when he gets bought out?

The Los Angeles Lakers are expected to sign Andre Drummond as a free agent once he reaches buyout agreement with the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Per ESPN (via RealGM), Andre Drummond is expected to be bought out by the Cleveland Cavaliers if he is not traded by the deadline and the Los Angeles Lakers are considered the favorites to sign him once he clears waivers, according to Brian Windhorst of ESPN.
“The league believes, and I know that’s a vague statement, but I’m saying it that way to avoid trapping myself,” said Windhorst on his podcast. “The league believes, numerous teams I’ve talked to believe that Andre Drummond is heading for the Lakers if slash when he gets bought out.
“And there’s a growing belief that LaMarcus Aldridge, the leader for LaMarcus Aldridge is the Heat.
“Now, let’s see how everything plays out this week. The Heat could make moves that change their dynamic. Other teams could make moves that change their dynamic. I know the L.A. teams have interest in LaMarcus too and the way things go, that could end up being the case.
“Multiple people I’ve talked to in the league with multiple teams believe that’s a possibility.”
Drummond was traded by the Detroit Pistons to the Cavaliers at last year’s deadline.

Kyle Lowry reportedly wants a two-year, $50 million contract from potential new team

Kyle Lowry is seeking a two-year, $50 million contract from the team that is willing to trade for him.

Per Philadelphia Inquirer (via RealGM), Kyle Lowry wants an indication that any team trading for him is willing to give him a two-year extension worth at least $25 million per year, sources tell the Philadelphia Inquirer.
Lowry is currently making $30 million in the final season of his deal with the Toronto Raptors.
The Philadelphia 76ers and Miami Heat are considered the favorites to trade for Lowry.
According to a source, the 76ers are unwilling to include Matisse Thybulle in a trade for Lowry, but could instead include Tyrese Maxey.

Nets’ Kevin Durant is at a “critical” point in his rehabilitation

The Brooklyn Nets will be without Kevin Durant for at least two more games.
The former NBA MVP did not travel with the team for the three-game road trip.

Per ESPN, Coach Steve Nash said the decision was made because Durant is at a “critical” point in his rehabilitation for a left hamstring strain.

“We just felt like it didn’t benefit him to travel across the country while he is trying to get that critical last part of his rehab done,” Nash said.

Nash reiterated that Durant continues to make progress, is on the court every day and “looks great.” Nash said that if the Nets were at a more critical point in the season, Durant would likely be close to returning.

Durant has been out since Feb. 12 and is averaging 29 points, 7.3 rebounds and 5.3 assists in the 19 games he’s played with Brooklyn.

Aaron Gordon says he requested trade of his “frustration” with the team on a number of issues

Aaron Gordon confirmed that he has requested trade from the Orlando Magic due to frustration over a series of issues.

Per ESPN,Gordon said he made the request because of his “frustration” with the team on a number of issues. The Athletic reported Monday that Gordon asked the Magic for a trade in February.

“There’s been times where I just expressed my frustration to management,” Gordon told reporters. “Frustration with the losses, the injuries, the way we’ve been playing and how many losses have accumulated over the years. “As of right now, I’m an Orlando Magic. I’ve been here for seven years, developed a home here, a sense of love and community here. For as long as I have Orlando on my chest, Magic on my chest, I’m going to give it everything I have.”

Warriors’ Stephen Curry out at least one more week with inflammation in tailbone

The Golden State Warriors will be without Stephen Curry for one more week.
The two-time MVP is out with inflammation in tailbone.

Per ESPN, Warriors coach Steve Kerr said that Curry underwent an MRI on Tuesday morning that showed inflammation and led to the organization’s decision to keep him out for at least four more games.

“We’re going to re-evaluate in a week,” Kerr said prior to Tuesday night’s game against the Philadelphia 76ers. “He got an MRI this morning and it showed inflammation in that tailbone. He had made some progress the first couple of days just resting and then he did a little bit more work [Monday] and was still pretty sore. So our training staff and Steph put their heads together and decided this is going to be a little bit longer than we thought and hoped. So we’ll re-evaluate in a week.”

Bulls open to listen trade offers for Lauri Markkanen

The Chicago Bulls are listening to trade offers on Lauri Markkanen, reports The Athletic’s Shams Charania. Finnish forward is averaging 17.7 ppg and 6.0 rpg.

Markkanen will be a restricted free agent this offseason after he didn’t come close to an extension with the Bulls before the start of the season. The Bulls have received interest from multiple teams on Markkanen.

Rockets’ Oladipo “likely” to be traded before Thursday’s deadline

Victor Oladipo will likely be traded by the Houston Rockets before the deadline on Thursday, reports ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.

The Miami Heat and New York Knicks, who each could sign Oladipo outright as a free agent this offseason, are reluctant to offer a premium trade package to the Rockets.

There are teams who don’t project to have cap space who are bidding with combinations of a first round pick and a young player.

Warriors reportedly pursuing Cedi Osman

According to Kevin O’Connor, the Golden State Warriors have had trade talks with the Cleveland Cavaliers for forward Cedi Osman.

The reporter adds that the Cavs received trade interest for Osman and center JaVale McGee, while the Warriors are willing to listen to offers for Kelly Oubre Jr.

Osman is under contract with Cleveland for 3 more seasons for about 22 million.

Nets sign Alize Johnson to 10-day contract

The Brooklyn Nets have signed free agent forward Alize Johnson to a 10-day contract.

Johnson (6’7”, 212) joins the Nets after most recently playing for the Raptors 905 of the NBA G League. In 15 games (all starts) for the 905 during the 2021 NBA G League season, the 24-year-old averaged a double-double with 16.6 points and 13.3 rebounds to go along with 4.2 assists and 1.3 steals in 32.1 minutes per game.

Mavericks, Celtics among teams interested in Norman Powell

Dallas Mavs, Boston Celtics, Minnesota Timberwolves, Detroit Pistons and Atlanta Hawks are among the teams that have expressed interest in Toronto Raptors guard Norman Powell, Jake Fischer reports.

The guard out of UCLA, who is expected to decline his $11.6MM player option to became an unrestricted free agent in the offseason, is averaging a career-high 19.5 points per game, shooting 55% from two points, 43% from beyond the arc and 87% from the foul line.

Clippers trade Mfiondu Kabengele to Sacramento Kings

The Sacramento Kings announced today that the team has acquired forward/center Mfiondu Kabengele (fee-ON-doo cabin-gelly), a future second-round draft selection and cash considerations from the LA Clippers in exchange for a future second-round draft selection.

During the 2020-21 season, Kabengele has averaged 1.2 points (.281 FG%, .222 3pt%, .833 FT%), 0.6 rebounds and 4.1 minutes per game in 23 games. In his second season out of Florida State, Kabengele has accrued career averages of 2.0 points (.359 FG%, .342 3pt%, .909 FT%), 0.7 rebounds and 4.5 minutes per game in 35 games played with the LA Clippers.

Sacramento’s roster now stands at 17 players.

 

Per ESPN, With the deal, the Clippers created an open roster spot ahead of Thursday’s NBA trade deadline and the eventual free-agent buyout market, dropping $2.6 million below the hard cap. Under the restrictions of the hard cap, the Clippers had to wait until March 30 to sign a player. Now, there are no restrictions on using the team’s two open roster spots.

Pistons reportedly reject Sacramento’s offer of Marvin Bagley for Saddiq Bey

The Detroit Pistons turned down a trade offer from the Sacramento Kings that would’ve sent Marvin Bagley III to Detroit and Saddiq Bey to Sacramento, according to Chris Haynes of Yahoo Sports.

The Kings and Bagley appear to prefer a separation.

Bey has had a solid rookie season for the Pistons so far, averaging 10.3 points while shooting 38.6 from 3-point range.

The two dreams of the franchise are Kyle Lowry and Lonzo Ball but are both very hard to trade for.

Per The Ringer,Though the Clippers have interest in big-name point guards like Ball and Lowry, their more realistic trade targets would grab fewer headlines. League sources say the Clippers have had trade talks with Oklahoma City for George Hill and with Minnesota for Ricky Rubio. Los Angeles likely doesn’t have the assets necessary to acquire Ball or Lowry, but the team’s interest in both certainly speaks to the need for a playmaking presence who can stop the offense from running stagnant in fourth quarters. –

The Boston Celtics are interested in two Atlanta Hawks players: John Collins and Bogdan Bogdanovic.

Per The Ringer, Boston’s pursuit of Collins also involves another key Hawks rotation player, according to league sources: Bogdan Bogdanovic, whom the Celtics had some trade discussions about while he was in Sacramento. If the Hawks were to acquire Ball, maybe moving Bogdanovic would make some sense.

Heat, 76ers reportedly leaders in pursuit to acquire Kyle Lowry

Kyle Lowry’s tenure with the Toronto Raptors may come to an end soon after nine season.

Per The Athletic, The Miami Heat and Philadelphia 76ers are leaders in pursuit to acquire Lowry, sources told The Athletic, and several rival team executives are monitoring the situation as well as which young player or asset either team could part with. Lowry has spent the last nine years in Toronto, cementing himself as a legacy player for the Raptors and as arguably the best player in franchise history. Lowry’s arrival in Toronto predated Masai Ujiri’s presidency, and to fans, he represents a through line that connects the Raptors’ fight for relevancy at the beginning of his time with the franchise to their current status as one of the league’s most respected organizations.
