76ers-Nets to discuss Ben Simmons for James Harden trade

The Philadelphia 76ers and the Brooklyn Nets are expected to discuss a Ben Simmons for James Harden trade before next week’s deadline.

Per The Athletic, The 76ers have several role players they can include in an offer to sweeten the deal such as Seth Curry, Tyrese Maxey and Matisse Thybulle.

Harden is currently out with tightness in his left hamstring.

Sources tell The Athletic that there have been growing concerns over how Harden’s playing style fits with Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving.

Pacers reportedly plan to sign Lance Stephenson for rest of the season

The Indiana Pacers are reportedly signing veteran forward Lance Stephenson for the rest of the 2021-22 season, according to Shams Charania of The Athletic.

Stephenson previously signed four consecutive 10-day contracts with the Pacers as part of the NBA’s COVID-related hardship exception, averaging 9.4 points, 2.9. rebounds and 4.2 assists in 17 games.

The deal would mark Stephenson’s third stint with Indiana, where he was drafted as the 40th overall pick in 2010. The 31-year-old forward spent the first four years of his career with the Pacers, helping the team reach the Eastern Conference finals for two straight seasons in 2013 and 2014. Stephenson returned to Indiana again for one season in 2017-18 where he appeared in 82 games while averaging 9.2 points, 5.2 rebounds and 2.9 assists.

Several NBA teams reportedly interested in Donte DiVincenzo

Milwaukee Bucks guard Donte DiVincenzo ‘has drawn considerable trade interest’ from NBA teams, Michael Scotto reports.

The reporter adds that the Bucks would like to would like to retain the guard.

 

DiVincenzo owns career-averages of 8.8 points, 4.7 rebounds and 2.4 assists.

The Villanova product will become a Restricted free agent after this season.

The New Orleans Pelicans announced today that the team has signed forward Wenyen Gabriel to a 10-day contract via the COVID hardship exception.

Gabriel played 6 games with the Clippers and one with the Nets this year.

 

Lakers reportedly still interested in Buddy Hield

The Los Angeles Lakers are once again interested in Buddy Hield, according to Chris Hayens of Yahoo Sports.

(Via Bleacher Report): “League sources have told me the Lakers have reached out to the Kings about a Talen Horton-Tucker package for Hield. Still trying to make that happen. Obviously the Kings are like, ‘No. We feel like there’s more lucrative deals out there.’ The Kings are going to be active. They’ve got a whole bunch of people calling them.”

For his part, Hield is struggling to express himself at the level of his first seasons in the NBA.

The guard  is averaging 14.9 points, 4 rebounds and 2 assists per game, shooting 38% from the field, 37% from beyond the arc (9.1 attempts per game) and 87% from free throw line.

 

Sacramento Kings reportedly pull out of pursuit for 76ers’ Ben Simmons

The Sacramento Kings have ended pursuit of a deal with the 76ers and turned elsewhere in trade talks, as reported by Adrian Wojnarowski.

The Kings believe the asking price for Simmons is too steep.

Hawks reportedly interested in Derrick White

The Atlanta Hawks have interest in trading for Derrick White of the San Antonio Spurs, reports Jake Fischer of Bleacher Report.

White, who signed a four-year, $73 million extension with the Spurs during the 2020 offseason, is averaging 14.2 points, 3.5 rebounds and 5.6 assists this season.

Heat guard Victor Oladipo could make his season debut in February

Miami Heat guard Victor Oladipo has been out of action for almost 10 months, but his return to the court may be nearing. Oladipo has looked good in recent workouts and could make his season debut in February, as reported by Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald

After being acquired from the Houston Rockets before the 2021 trade deadline, Oladipo only appeared in four games for Miami. He was shut down with knee soreness after the game on April 8, 2021 and hasn’t appeared in a game since.

Bradley Beal said that he is giving Wizards an opportunity after incredible loss to Clippers brewing a 35-point lead.

Suns sign GM James Jones to multi-year contract extension

The Phoenix Suns have signed GM James Jones to multi-year contract extension.

Per The Undefeated, Jones joined the Suns as the vice president of basketball operations in 2018 before being named interim general manager and eventually the permanent general manager in 2019. During his tenure, Jones hired Monty Williams, who was the NABC Coach of the Year last season. He also acquired and re-signed All-Star guard Chris Paul while building a roster that reached the NBA Finals in 2021 and entered Tuesday an NBA-best 37-9 this season.

Houston Rockets reportedly open to Russell Westbrook trade ‘if the conditions are right’

Marc Stein talks about the possibility of a Russell Westbrook trade, a few months after his arrival in Los Angeles.

According to the reporter, the Houston Rockets would be open to a trade between Westbrook and John Wall ‘if the Lakers incentivized the deal with sufficient draft compensation’ (the 2027 first round pick  or multiple second round picks).

Wall and Westbrook have a Player Option worth over $ 47 million for next season.

Westbrook is averaging 18.5 points, 8 rebounds and 7.8 assists per game.

The UCLA prouct hasn’t scored 20 or more points in 10 consecutive games, the first time since 2009.
