Nets, Knicks, Heat reportedly Donovan Mitchell’s 3 preferred destinations in case of trade

According to Tony Jones of The Athletic, Nets, Knicks and Heat are said to be Donovan Mitchell’s 3 preferred destinations in case of a trade.

The reporter explains that the Jazz front office has several attractive offers on the table.

The player as of now has not officially requested a trade. Among the 3 franchises listed, all from the Eastern Conference, only the Knicks seem to have the assets needed to meet the Jazz’s demands.

Utah’s position does not change. The team wants a substantial number of unprotected first-round picks to trade the 3-time All-Star.

At this point probably an official trade request from the player is the only event that could prompt the Front Office to speed up negotiations.

Kevin Durant says he doesn’t plan on retiring anytime soon

Kevin Durant denied rumors that he is planning to retire if the Brooklyn Nets won’t trade him (Nets are not in a hurry to trade him).

“I know most people will believe unnamed sources over me but if it’s anyone out there that’ll listen, I don’t plan on retiring anytime soon,” wrote Durant on Twitter. “[Expletive] is comical at this point.”

Kevin Durant strongly refuted an assertion from a “well-connected team executive” that suggested to Marc Stein of Substack that “Durant was more apt to retire than again play for the Brooklyn Nets.”

Durant is seeking a trade and has four years remaining on his contract.

Nets not changing strategy after Kevin Durant’s trade request

The Brooklyn Nets won’t change strategy on Kevin Durant who reiterated he wants to be traded in a meeting in London with owner Joe Tsai.

Per RealGM, Ten days ago, Kevin Durant and Joe Tsai met in London. Durant really tried to apply the pressure by asking for Steve Nash and Sean Marks to get fired. And guess what has happened? Nothing. Nothing has happened,” Windhorst said. “The dynamic around Kevin Durant hasn’t changed at all. There hasn’t been an urgency in trade talks. There hasn’t been a change in strategy by the Brooklyn Nets.”

Windhorst went on to say the Nets aren’t coming off asking for a big return for Durant in a trade. And that Brooklyn has no leverage with other teams, same as Durant has no leverage with the Nets.

“I think what we have here is really a study of leverage. First off, the Nets do not have leverage in trade talks with other teams. They are not giving them the offers that they want. They see no reason to increase them. So, they’re not making any progress there,” said Windhorst. “Kevin Durant clearly does not have leverage with the Brooklyn Nets. He is asking for things: ‘Get me traded. Fire the coach. Fire the GM.’ He is being told no. So, when you have denied leverage, you have a stalemate.”

Thunder want a first-rounder to trade Vasilije Micic’s rights?

The price requested by the Oklahoma City Thunder for Vasilije Micic could have been too high.

Micic dominated the last two EuroLeague leading Efes to the back-to-back titles. The Serbian PG will remain with Efes in 2022-2023 as well.

Per Heavy, Any team looking to acquire Micic would have to give Oklahoma City some draft compensation—preferably a first-rounder, though it’s possible the price could have been brought down. “I think that was where it was a little too much for teams,” one Western Conference executive said. “No one wanted to give up a pick plus everything else it would take. The guy can play, I think he’d be good in the NBA. But no one wanted to give up picks and money for him.”

First, there was Micic himself. To ditch Efes and head to the NBA, Micic wanted a few things—a salary in the $6-7 million per year range, a starting spot (or, at least, starter-type minutes), and a role with a contending team . That eliminated a chunk of NBA interest off the bat.

Giannis Antetokounmpo doesn’t rule out playing for the Bulls in the future

Giannis Antetokounmpo did not rule out playing for the Chicago Bulls in the future.

Antetokounmpo signed a five-year, $228.5 million extension with the Milwaukee Bucks in December 2020.

The former NBA MVP could be free agent at the end of 2024-2025 when he will have a player option for the final year of his contract.
“I think anyone asked that question, who plays basketball, if he said no, he’d be a liar,” Antetokounmpo told Fox 32 when asked if he’d consider signing with the Bulls when he can opt out of his contract.
“It’s a team that won multiple championships, a team with one of the greatest players if not the greatest player to ever play this game.
It’s a no-brainer, everybody would love to play for Chicago. Down the line, you never know. You never know how life brings it. Maybe I play for Chicago. But right now, I’m committed to Milwaukee,” the Greek Freak said.

Boston Celtics, Toronto Raptors and Miami Heat remain the front runners to complete a trade with the Brooklyn Nets for Kevin Durant, as reported by Shams Charania.

Per RealGM, Boston’s package centered on Jaylen Brown is seen as a viable deal.

According to Joe Cowley, in the upcoming Training Camp, the Chicago Bulls plans to have “initial discussions” on contract extension with Nikola Vucevic.

The Montenegrin center ended last season with 17.6 points, 11 rebounds and 3.2 assists per game.

The reporter explains that both the Bulls front office and Vucevic would like to extend their relationship.

Why? Because if the price is right, Vucevic remains the type of player who fits in with how the Bulls were built on both ends of the floor”
