76ers reportedly focusing on Bogdan Bogdanovic, Robert Covington

According to Jon Johnson, the Philadelphia 76ers are currently focusing on Sacramento Kings guard Bogdan Bogdanovic and Minnesota Timberwolves forward Robert Covington as potential targets to improve the roster.
Bogdanovic is averaging 14.3 points and 3.6 assist, shooting 42% from the field, 38% from long range and 65% from the foul line.
Covington, who played with the 76ers for 4 and a half years, is averaging 12.7 points, 5.9 rebounds and 1.7 steals.

Per NBA source, Sixers are currently focusing on Bogdan Bogdanovic, & Robert Covington as potential deadline acquisitions.
Source says Sixers have been firm on who/what is, and isn’t not available in return.

Arizona Cardinals wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald purchases minority stake in Suns

Arizona Cardinals wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald has purchased a minority stake in the Phoenix Suns, becoming the second active NFL player with an NBA ownership share.

Fitzgerald joins Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers, who purchased a stake in the Milwaukee Bucks in 2018, as the only active NFL players who are partial owners of NBA teams.

Mavs’ Dwight Powell suffers season-ending torn right achille tendon injury

Dallas Mavericks forward Dwight Powell suffered a serious achilles tendon injury.

Per ESPN, The Mavericks fear that starting center Dwight Powell suffered a season-ending torn right Achilles tendon early in the first quarter of Tuesday night’s 110-107 loss to the LA Clippers.

“It’s a somber night with Dwight’s situation,” Dallas coach Rick Carlisle said. “He’s going to have an MRI tomorrow. Right Achilles injury feared to be severe, but we won’t know for sure until the diagnostic tests are done. It’s a real tough one.”

Lakers, 76ers among teams interested in Derrick Rose.

According to Chris Haynes, there are several NBA teams interested in Pistons guard Derrick Rose, including the Lakers and the 76ers.

The former MVP has an open series of 9 games with at least 20 points scored.

For the season he’s averaging 18.4 points and 5.8 assist, shooting 50% from the field, 31% from beyond the arc and 87% from the foul line.

Sacramento Kings announce trade with Portland Trail Blazers

The Sacramento Kings announced today that the team has acquired guard-forward Kent Bazemore, forward Anthony Tolliver, a 2024 second-round draft selection and a 2025 second-round draft selection from the Portland Trail Blazers in exchange for forwards Trevor Ariza, Wenyen Gabriel and Caleb Swanigan.

Chandler Parsons’ career at risk after car accident

Chandler Parsons has hired Morgan & Morgan after being struck by an individual who’s charged with DUI.

The firm says Parsons suffered multiple severe and permanent injuries including a traumatic brain injury, disc herniation and torn labrum, and that his return to play is unclear.

Utah Jazz forward Royce O’Neale has agreed to a four-year, $36 million contract extension, agents Ty Sullivan and Steven Heumann of CAA Sports told ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.

Kings trade Trevor Ariza to Portland in multiplayer deal

The Portland Trail Blazers have agreed to trade Kent Bazemore, Anthony Tolliver and two future second-round draft picks to the Sacramento Kings in a deal that sheds $12.5 million in salary, NBA sources told ESPN.

The Kings will send Trevor Ariza, Wenyen Gabriel and Caleb Swanigan to the Blazers, whose luxury tax bill drops to $7 million with the deal.

Bazemore ($19.3 million) and Tolliver ($1.6 million) are on expiring contracts. Ariza ($12.2 million) has a partial guarantee of $1.8 million on his $12.8 million contract next season. The Blazers will have until June 30 to pick up or decline that option.

Portland will also create a $7.2 million and a $1.7 million trade exception as part of the deal. Both exceptions will expire next January.

Drummond can become a free agent this offseason.

NBA delays vote on schedule changes

The NBA will continue to look at making calendar changes for the 21-22 season, but no vote on the matter will take place at the Board of Governors meeting this April, per ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.

NBA has been working closely with teams, NBPA and stakeholders and wants to continue studying how in-season tournament, play-in for 7/8 seeds and re-seeding of Final Four could best be planned and monetized in the long-run. League plans an update for owners at April BOG meeting.

NBA had hoped that an April BOG vote of calendar changes could give ample planning to implement changes for 75th Anniversary season in 2021-22. That season hasn't been ruled out yet for changes, sources say, but it's a tight window for all the planning that needs to occur.

According to the Athletic, the Minnesota Timberwolves are trying to ‘remake the roster to better fit their vision for the team moving forward’, and that includes intensifying their pursuit of D’Angelo Russell.

The reporter adds that so far the Warriors seem determined to keep the former Ohio State scoring-guard.

Irving: It’s glaring we need one more piece or two more pieces in order to be at that next level

Kyrie Irving knows what the Brooklyn Nets need in order to compete for the NBA title.

Per ESPN, “I mean, it’s transparent. It’s out there. It’s glaring, in terms of the pieces that we need in order to be at that next level,” Irving said after finishing with 14 points on 6-for-21 shooting in Brooklyn’s 117-106 loss to the Philadelphia 76ers on Wednesday at Wells Fargo Center. “I’m going to continue to reiterate it. We’re going to do the best with the guys that we have in our locker room now, and we’ll worry about all the other stuff, in terms of moving pieces and everything else, as an organization down the line in the summer.

“It’s just something that we signed up for. We knew what we were coming into at the beginning of this season. Guys were going down left and right. [Garrett Temple] is out, [DeAndre Jordan] just got hurt tonight, Wilson [Chandler] is coming back. We’ve got complimentary young guys as well that have done a great job the last three years.

“Collectively, I feel like we have great pieces, but it’s pretty glaring we need one more piece or two more pieces that will compliment myself, [Kevin Durant], DJ, GT, Spence [Dinwiddie], Caris [LeVert], and we’ll see how that evolves.”

LaMelo Ball’s playing time in NBL with Illawarra Hawks is over

LaMelo Ball’s experience in Australian NBL is over.The youngest of the Ball brothers ends his season with Illawarra Hawks averaging 17.0 points per game, 7.6 rebounds per game, 6.8 assists per game and 1.6 steals per game over 12 outings.
Ball, who has been out with injury since December, will focus on the upcoming NBA draft where he is expected to be picked in lottery.
