In addition to Pacers’ assistant Dan Burke, Doc Rivers’ coaching staff in Philadelphia will be strengthen by former Los Angeles Clippers assistant coach Sam Cassell, according to Keith Pompey of the Philadelphia Inquirer.
Cassell has worked under Rivers for the last six years with the Clippers, and his move to Philadelphia was widely expected.

Dallas Mavericks assistant coach Stephen Silas is finalising a deal to become the next head coach of the Houston Rockets, sources tell ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.
The 47-year old Silas, son of longtime NBA head coach Paul, has worked with several NBA franchises since the 1999-2000 season. While he will make his debut as a head coach, he served as an assistant for Charlotte, New Orleans, Cleveland and Golden State before joining the Mavericks in 2018.

The NBA’s revenues dropped 10% to $8.3 billion during the 2019-20 season amid losses due to the pandemic, according to financial numbers shared with teams and reported by ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski and Zach Lowe.
The balance of the finances included an $800 million loss in gate receipts, a $400 million loss in sponsorships and merchandise and a $200 million in deemed “net negative impact” from a months-long splintering of a partnership with China.
The NBA bubble in Orlando recouped $1.5 billion in revenue that would’ve been lost without restarting the season, with the bubble costing $190 million.
The 2019-20 season losses are slight in comparison to what awaits the NBA in 2020-21 if the season advances without fans and accompanying gate-night receipts, the league told teams: a projected 40% loss in overall revenue, or approximately $4 billion.

Former All Star Victor Oladipo would be reportedly happy to sign a contract extension with the Indiana Pacers if they could agree to terms, but a source says joining the Miami Heat would be No. 1 on his list should he leave as a free agent in 2021, as reported by Miami Herald’s Barry Jackson.
Miami’s interest, though, wouldn’t likely extend to the possibility of an in-season trade, should Indiana will make Oladipo available for it during the course of next season.

The Clippers have interest in signing the Lakers’ Rajon Rondo, reports Marc Stein of the New York Times, and are expected to pursue Rondo when free agency opens in November.

The Utah Jazz have agreed to be sold by the Miller family to Qualtrics founder Ryan Smith for $1.66 billion. The deal will include Vivint Arena and is pending approval from the NBA Board of Governors, as reported by ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.
The Millers have owned the Jazz for 35 years. Larry Miller passed away in 2009 at the age of 64 with his widow Gail Miller running the team in the subsequent years.
The Philadelphia 76ers are hiring Daryl Morey to a five year contract, as reported by Shams Charania.
Morey will become the president of the basketball operations of the franchise.
Morey joins the 76ers after his long tenure with the Houston Rockets he left at the end of the Orlando’s bubble.
The Dallas Mavericks and the Oklahoma City Thunder had an agreement in place for Danilo Gallinari at last NBA trade deadline.
Per RealGM, the deal fell through when he signaled he would test free agency and not agree to an extension.
The Miami Heat were also interested in trading for Gallinari at the deadline.
Gallinari is unlikely to re-sign with the Thunder and they could agree to a sign-and-trade with Dallas. Sign-and-trade agreements must be for a minimum of three seasons.
The Charlotte Hornets want to select James Wiseman in the next NBA Drart and they are open to trading up.
Charlotte has the third pick in the draft but Wiseman could be selected in one of the first two positions.
Per Charlotte Observer, The Hornets are highly interested in selecting former Memphis center James Wiseman in the Nov. 18 draft, two NBA sources with knowledge of the situation told The Observer.
One of those sources said he views Georgia guard Anthony Edwards as the Hornets’ backup plan if Wiseman isn’t available to Charlotte.
The two teams drafting before the Hornets — the Minnesota Timberwolves at No. 1 and the Golden State Warriors at No. 2 — appear open to trading out of those spots.
The Dallas Mavericks want to win now and they are willing to add a third star in the next NBA market.
Per Dallas News, All players on the Mavericks are available beyond Doncic and Porzingis. Dallas would also be willing to take on bad salary from another team to help facilitate a trade, which runs counter to their previously perceived preference to maximize their 2021 cap space to pursue Giannis Antetokounmpo.
The Mavericks own the 18th and 31st picks in the draft and have a strong desire to trade into the lottery.

The NBA salary cap for the 2020-21 season is expected to be no less than $109 million, according to ESPN’s front office insider Bobby Marks.
“The teams I’ve talked to have said the cap will be no lower than $109 million,” said Bobby Marks on The Lowe Post. “That’s what they’ve been assured. It could be $111 million.”

The NBA Salary Cap is expected to decline “anywhere between $3 million and $12 million” for next season, sources told Connor Letourneau of the San Francisco Chronicle.
Per RealGM, the league reportedly missed its revenue projections by $1.5 billion due to a combination of the shutdown, cancellation of games, and finishing the season without fans.
It was reported on Friday that the NBA could hold up to 40% of player salaries for the upcoming season in escrow to offset anticipated losses due to having a limited amount of fans or no fans altogether.

New Los Angeles Clippers coach Tyronn Lue opened up the possibility of Kawhi Leonard and Paul George remaining with the Clippers for many years.
