Brooklyn Nets exercise 2021-22 option on Landry Shamet

The Brooklyn Nets have exercised the fourth-year team option on guard Landry Shamet’s contract for the 2021-22 season.

The guard out of Wichita State last year averaged 9.3 points and 1.8 assist for the Clippers, shooting 37% from beyond the arc.

Lakers Sign Kyle Kuzma to Contract Extension

The Los Angeles Lakers have signed forward Kyle Kuzma to a multi-year contract extension, it was announced by Vice President of Basketball Operations and General Manager Rob Pelinka.
Kuzma played in 61 games (nine starts) last season, averaging 12.8 points, 4.5 rebounds and 1.3 assists.

Markkanen-Bulls unlikely to reach contract extension agreement before deadline

Lauri Markkanen is unlikely to reach a contract extension agreement with the Chicago Bulls before today’s deadline.

Per NBC Sports, Barring a dramatic change on Monday’s deadline day, Lauri Markkanen will be joining the ranks of restricted free agency next offseason. Talks on his rookie extension continued Sunday but sputtered on life support. Sources said the gap remains wide.

Pistons waive Dzanan Musa

The Detroit Pistons waived Dzanan Musa, who was acquired last month for Bruce Brown, on Sunday.

The Pistons now have 15 players on their roster.

Blake Griffin, Derrick Rose, Sekou Doumbouya and Svi Mykhailiuk are the only players on the current roster from last season.

Golden State Warriors to explore all avenues to acquire Jeremy Lin

The Warriors remain interested in adding Jeremy Lin to the G League Team.

Without a FIBA Letter of Clearance, Golden State could not go through with its plan to sign and waive Lin before 11 PM ET last night.

As reported by Marc Stein the Warriors “will explore all avenues” to acquire Lin’s rights if he chooses the G League route after spending last season in China.

Toronto Raptors sign three players for the season

Toronto Raptors converts Paul Watson’s deal to a full NBA. Last season Watson played 10 games in NBA with Raptors and averaged 19 points in G League with Raptors 905.

Yuta Watanabe and Jalen Harris sign a two-way contract.

Rudy Gobert agreed to five-year, $205 million contract extension

French big man Rudy Gobert has reached a contract extension agreement with the Utah Jazz.
The center will pen a five-year, $205 million contract, the richest deal ever signed by a big man in the NBA.

Per ESPN, “It means that they believe in me,” Gobert told ESPN. “They believe in what we’ve been building over the years with this whole organization, with coach [Quin Snyder] and all the guys. For me, it’s an incredible blessing. It’s a very motivating feeling to know that we all share the same vision and we all share this goal for this state and for this franchise.”

Gobert, 28, was eligible for a supermax extension worth $228 million — identical to the deal Giannis Antetokounmpo just signed with the Milwaukee Bucks — due to being a two-time Defensive Player of the Year and three-time All-NBA selection. Gobert said he did not request the full supermax because he wanted the Jazz to have flexibility to continue building around co-star Donovan Mitchell and him.

Rockets waive Gerald Green

The Houston Rockets have waived Gerald Green.
The forward was at his third stint with Houston.

Per Houston Chronicle, With the Rockets hard-capped, removing most options, and the injury to second-year guard Chris Clemons guaranteeing his contract, the Rockets plan to carry 14 players plus two two-way players on their opening night roster.

Warriors waive forward Juan Toscano-Anderson

The Golden State Warriors have waived forward Juan Toscano-Anderson, the team announced today. The Warriors roster currently stands at 15 players and one two-way contract.

Toscano-Anderson tallied averages of 5.3 points, 4.0 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 1.00 steals in 20.9 minutes over 13 games (six starts) with the Warriors last season. The Oakland native appeared in an additional 31 games (12 starts) with Golden State’s G League affiliate in Santa Cruz, averaging 12.5 points, 9.0 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 1.39 steals in 29.0 minutes. He originally signed with the Warriors on February 7, 2020.

Fenerbahce reportedly interested in Frank Kaminsky

The Sacramento Kings have waived Frank Kaminsky, Shams Charania reports.

The big man out of Wisconsin last season produced averages of 9.6 points, 4.5 rebounds and 1.9 assists for the Phoenix Suns

According to the Turkish reporter Ugur Ozan Sulak, now Fenerbahce will try to convince the big man to move to the old continent.

The team led by coach Kokoskov had previously negotiated with Kaminsky, but he was still determined to play his cards in the NBA.

 

Jazz Waive Yogi Ferrell and Malcolm Miller

The Utah Jazz announced today that the team has waived guard Yogi Ferrell and forward Malcolm Miller.

Ferrell (6-0, 178, Indiana) has four years of NBA experience with the Brooklyn Nets, Dallas Mavericks and Sacramento Kings, owning career averages of 7.8 points, 2.3 assists and 2.1 assists in 20.4 minutes per contest. In 2019-20 he saw action in 50 games for the Kings, averaging 4.4 points, 1.4 assists and 1.0 rebounds in 10.6 minutes per contests.

Miller (6-7, 210, Holy Cross) has played in three NBA seasons with the Toronto Raptors, where he’s averaged 2.0 points on 43.4 percent from the field in 55 career contests (five starts). The Gaithersburg, MD., native has appeared in 97 games (79 starts) in the G League with the Maine Red Claws and Toronto 905, owning career averages of 12.1 points on 46.2 percent from the field, 4.5 rebounds, 1.4 assists and 1.0 blocks in 29.9 minutes per game.

Minnesota waive Charlie Brown Jr., Zylan Cheatham, Tyler Cook, Rondae Hollis-Jefferson

Minnesota Timberwolves President of Basketball Operations Gersson Rosas announced the team has waived guard Charlie Brown Jr. and forwards Zylan Cheatham, Tyler Cook and Rondae Hollis-Jefferson.

Hollis-Jefferson  averaged 7.7 points and 2 rebounds in 3 preseason games.

Minnesota’s roster now stands at 15 players, including  two-way players Ashton Aghans and Jordan McLaughlin.

Nets release Chris Chiozza, Elie Okobo, Paul Eboua

The Brooklyn Nets have requested waivers on guards Chris Chiozza and Elie Okobo and forward Paul Eboua.

Chiozza originally signed a two-way contract with Brooklyn on Jan. 4 and then re-signed with the Nets on Dec. 1. He appeared in Brooklyn’s preseason game against Washington on Dec. 13, totaling eight points, two rebounds and two assists in nine minutes off the bench.

Okobo originally signed with the Nets on Dec. 16, while Eboua signed with Brooklyn on Dec. 18.

Brooklyn’s roster now stands at 17 players.

Knicks waive Michael Kidd-Gilchrist, Bryce Brown, Myles Powell

New York Knicks announced today that the team has waived guard Bryce Brown, forward Michael Kidd-Gilchrist and guard Myles Powell.

Brown, 6-3, 198-pounds, was originally signed by New York on December 17, 2020. He appeared in one preseason game, scoring three points over three minutes.

Kidd-Gilchrist, 6-6, 232-pounds, was originally signed by New York on November 28, 2020. He did not appear in any preseason games.

Powell, 6-2, 195-pounds, was originally signed by New York on November 29, 2020 after going undrafted in the 2020 NBA Draft out of Seton Hall University. He recorded two points over six minutes in one preseason game.

The roster now stands at 17, including two two-way players.

Bucks waive Nik Stauskas, Treveon Graham

The Milwaukee Bucks have requested waivers on Treveon Graham and Nik Stauskas.

Stauskas spent last season with TD Systems Baskonia, where he averaged 8.9 points and 1.6 assist in Euroleague, shooting 42% from beyond the arc.

Cavaliers Waive Three Players, Convert Marques Bolden to Two-Way Contract and Sign Norvel Pelle

The Cleveland Cavaliers waived Two-Way player Matt Mooney and guard/forwards Levi Randolph and Charles Matthews. The team then converted center Marques Bolden into a Two-Way contract and signed forward Norvel Pelle, Cavaliers General Manager Koby Altman announced today from Cleveland Clinic Courts.

Bolden (6-11, 250) appeared in all four Cavaliers preseason games this year and played in one game for the Cavs last season after signing a 10-day contract on Jan. 30, 2020. He was also a member of the Cavaliers’ 2019 training camp roster and played in 38 games (27 starts) in 2019-20 with the Canton Charge, the Cavaliers’ exclusively owned and operated NBA G League affiliate, averaging 9.7 points on .596 shooting, 6.8 rebounds and 1.5 blocks in 18.9 minutes.

Pelle (6-10, 231) appeared in 24 games for the Philadelphia 76ers last season, averaging 2.4 points and 3.0 rebounds in 9.7 minutes.

Minnesota to waive Rondae Hollis-Jefferson

The Minnesota Timberwolves are waiving Rondae Hollis-Jefferson, Shams Charania reports.
The forward out of Arizona played 3 preseason games, with averages of 7.6 points, 2 rebounds and 1 steal in just 11 minutes per game.

Thunder waive TJ Leaf, Admiral Schofield

OKLAHOMA CITY, Dec. 18, 2020 – The Oklahoma City Thunder has waived forwards TJ Leaf and Admiral Schofield, it was announced today by Executive Vice President and General Manager Sam Presti.

Leaf appeared in two preseason games with the Thunder, registering eight points and seven rebounds. He was originally acquired from Indiana on Nov. 25.

Schofield appeared in two preseason games with Oklahoma City, grabbing two rebounds and dishing out two assists. He was originally acquired from Washington on Nov. 19.

Kings sign, waive Vince Edwards

The Sacramento Kings have signed and immediately waived 2018 second-round pick Vince Edwards.

This looks like a move to acquire his G League rights but at the moment there’s no word on whether the Stockton Kings will play this season or not.
