Kings exploring trades for Nemanja Bjelica

According to the Sacramento Bee, the Sacramento Kings are exploring trades possibilities for Serbian forward Nemanja Bjelica.

Former Wolves player was benched two weeks ago after some discussion about his playing time, sources said. Bjelica, at the Kings since 2018, averaged 11.5 ppg and 6.3 rpg last season, but his averages fell sharply this season.

USA Basketball sends out 60 invitations to players interested in 2021 Olympics

USA Basketball sent out approximately 60 invitations to players expressing interest in being part of 2021 Olympic team player pool, including all the league’s big names, according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.

Team USA could be without players advancing to NBA Finals, based on timing of July Olympics in Tokyo. Wojnarowski also adds that Miami’s Bam Adebayo and Houston’s Christian Wood are among invitees.

Nets granted $5.7M Disabled Player Exception

The Brooklyn Nets have been granted a disabled player exception worth $5.7 million for the loss of Spencer Dinwiddie, reports Shams Charania of The Athletic.

Dinwiddie tore his ACL in December and will be out for the rest of the season. The Nets have until April 19th to use the exception.

76ers Sign Rayjon Tucker to Two-Way Contract

Philadelphia 76ers President of Basketball Operations Daryl Morey announced that the team has signed Rayjon Tucker to a two-way contract.

Tucker spent his rookie season between the Utah Jazz and the Wisconsin Herd in G League, where he averaged 23.8 points, 4.6 rebounds and 2.8 assists.
According to Shams Charania the guard is expected to play with the 76ers‘ G League affiliate (Delaware Blue Coats) in the Orlando bubble.

Gordon Hayward underwent a previously unreported elective surgery in early October to alleviate persistent nerve pain his left foot, according to Sam Amick of The Athletic.

Hayward’s surgery was performed by Indianapolis-based Dr. David Porter, which relieved the discomfort that he played through last season and required approximately four weeks of recovery time for the incision to heal.

Adam Silver pushes away hypotesis of $2.5B fee per expansion franchise

The NBA has reportedly considered expansion in the medium-term with a possible franchise fee of $2.5 billion. Commissioner Adam Silver, however, said he is “not ready” to confirm the number of teams or the price point the league would seek if it were to add clubs. He said it “doesn’t feel like the right time” to focus resources or attention on future growth with the league still trying to navigate the pandemic. But Silver did say that “clearly the valuations show some of the reported numbers for expansion fees are very low in terms of the value at which we would expand.”

Silver also said the NBA won’t expand in an effort to recover lost revenues: “The main driver for expansion should be the ability to grow the pie. Not necessarily to sell equity to bring in cash now as opposed to generating the money later.”

Pistons’ Killian Hayes to miss eight more weeks with right hip injury

The Detroit Pistons will be without Killian Hayes for eight more weeks due to a right hip injury.

Per ESPN, According to the team, Hayes had further evaluation of the injury, which indicated the origin was a subluxation — a partial dislocation — that will require rest and rehab, but not surgery.

“The one thing I’m concerned about is to make sure he stays connected mentally,’’ coach Dwane Casey said. “Keep the village around him. … Make sure he stays connected to the team.’’

Blazers’ Nurkic underwent wrist surgery, will miss at least six weeks of action

Portland center Jusuf Nurkic underwent surgery today to repair a fracture in his right wrist, it was announced by Trail Blazers president of basketball operations Neil Olshey.

The procedure was performed by Dr. Steven Shin at the Cedars-Sinai Kerlan-Jobe Institute in Los Angeles.

Nurkic will wear a splint for four weeks and be re-evaluated in six weeks.

His status will be updated accordingly.

Sources said Porter, whose locker was moved to the wall where the younger, end-of-bench players reside, began yelling and at one point threw food.
