Valencia Basket has reached an agreement to add American power forward James Webb III (2.03, Augusta (Georgia), 19/08/1993, 28 years old) to its men’s first team for the next two seasons. The player comes from UCAM Murcia, where he has played the last two seasons. This year he has averaged 12.1 points, 5.4 rebounds and 1.1 steals per game in the Endesa League.
Laureate stage in college
The American player began his college career at the Community College of North Idaho, where he averaged 9.2 points and 5.2 rebounds per game. After that, he switched teams and went on to play for Boise State University, increasing his averages and averaging 13.5 points and 8.6 rebounds per game. This earned him the Mountain West Conference rookie of the season, as well as being part of the first defensive five and second overall that season. The following and final collegiate campaign, he made the first team of the season.
Long G-League experience
Despite not being drafted in the 2016 draft, Webb III joined the Philadelphia 76ers as a member of the Summer League team. After that, he signed a contract to join the official roster in the NBA, but ended up falling to the Delaware 87ers, the franchise with ties to Philadelphia in the G-League. The Long Island Nets were interested in him and traded him that season. His performance with this team helped him to play 10 games with the Brooklyn Nets in the NBA. His G-League stint ended with the Iowa Wolves, where he averaged 13.2 points and 8 rebounds per game.
Consolidation in the Greek league
After leaving his home country, Webb III signed with Ermis Agias of the Greek league for the 20/21 season. With the Greek team, the American continued to play at the level he had shown in the United States, finishing the first half of the season with statistics of 13.3 points and 9.6 rebounds, for a total of 18.3 in efficiency. After playing 13 games for Ermis Agias, he signed with UCAM Murcia in January 2021.
