Era Nymburk announced the signing of Eric Lockett.
The 26-year-old wing comes from Aris Thessaloniki, where he was among the best defenders in the Greek league. Eric Lockett signed a one-year contract with the Era Nymburk.
“Eric plays very well and quickly to the basket, but we were particularly impressed by how he works for the team even without the ball and especially by his defense, which gives us many more options defensively. He reminds me of Howard Sant-Roos with his game and I’ll leave it to the fans to judge for themselves,” said Nymburk sports director Ladislav Sokolovský.
The Atlanta native went through Chipola, Florida International and North Carolina State universities, where he played with Torin Dorn, who played for Jindřichův Hradec in the KNBL last season.
He started his professional career in Qatar for Al-Rayyan, where he was among the best players with averages of 16.7 points, 8.1 rebounds and 5.3 assists. He then headed to the British league, where he wore a Bristol jersey and averaged 15 points, 7 rebounds and 4.2 assists.
He then spent last season in Aris Thessaloniki, where he was primarily a defensive specialist. For his defensive performances, the fans even voted him the second best defender in the entire Greek league after Thomas Walkup from Olympiakos. He averaged 22 minutes per game and collected 6.1 points, 4 rebounds and 1.3 assists.
Lockett is the fourth signing of the Czech team.
