Zenit GM: “We still don’t know our budget. We are not negotiating with anyone yet”

Zenit general manager Alexander Tserkovny told SDNA’s George Zakkas that the team needs to set up a budget for next season before they can be active on the market.

“We still don’t know our budget, it’s a complex and not a quick process,” Tserkovny said. “It is necessary to form it, to work with sponsors to understand our resources. We are not negotiating with Calathes & Shved. We are not negotiating with anyone yet”.

Zalgiris suspends Tom Digbeu’s contract

Zalgiris Kaunas has suspended Tom Digbeu’s contract as he returned to France without the authorization of the club.

“For some young guys like him it’s hard to live far away from home,” Zalgiris sporting director Robertas Javtokas told 15min.lt. “We don’t know yet what’s going to happen but he is back home.”

The 2001-born guard was supposed to spend the season on loan with Prienai but suffered a season-ending knee injury in the preseason.

Olimpia Milano targeting Derrick Williams

Derrick Williams is Olimpia Milano’s main target at the power forward position, Sportando has learned. The Italian powerhouse has been working to acquire Williams since February for next season.

Actually, contacts between Olimpia and Williams began last summer, as the former NBA forward was close to joining Milano before Fenerbahce broke into negotiations and signed him.

Milano has already announced the signing of Davide Moretti and reportedly reached an agreement with Kyle Hines.

Austin Daye has an out clause in his contract, may return to the league this season

Austin Daye has an out clause in his contract with Umana Reyer Venezia that expires on June 30, a source Sportando.

The American forward, who has been MVP of the 2019 Serie A Finals and the 2020 Italian Cup Final Eight, is negotiating with an NBA team and may return now when the season resumes.

Daye has played 293 games in the NBA averaging 5.2 points and 2.6 rebounds.

Olimpia Milano agreed to terms with Kyle Hines

Olimpia Milano is going big this summer. The Italian powerhouse has agreed to terms with four-time EuroLeague champion Kyle Hines, as first reported by Nikos Varlas.

The American big man is leaving CSKA Moscow that will get a buyout from Milano to free the player, a source told Sportando.

Hines has already played in Italy with Veroli.

Mexican point guard Alex Perez ended this season in November after 14 games with Zalgiris Kaunas .

Turkish point guard Doguz Ozdemiroglu played this season with Darussafaka averaging 5.1 points and 2.1 assists in EuroCup.

Arnoldas Kulboka re-signing with Bilbao Basket

Arnoldas Kulboka is back to RETAbet Bilbao, a source told Sportando and Chema de Lucas.

The Lithuanian shooter turned down a proposal from Zalgiris Kaunas to remain with the Basque team one more season.

Kulboka joined Bilbao last summer and averaged 8.5 points and 3.6 rebounds in ACB.

The team will join Basketball Champions League next season.

ACB final tournament to reportedly have 3 games per day from June 17

According to Spanish newspaper ABC, the ACB final tournament in Valencia could have three games per day, as asked by Spanish broadcaster Movistar. The proposed time slots are 15:30, 17:30 and 21:30.

The tournament will start on June 17, and have two groups of six teams each which will produce a Final Four to crown the 2020 Liga Endesa Champion on June 30. The two finalists will play a total of 7 games within less than two weeks.

Future with Anadolu Efes: They have the option. Obiously, I would love to stay with Efes. But, I don’t know. I don’t know how they are feeling. Especially, I don’t know the economic situation with the whole team about next year. But, I think all of us would like to come back and have another chance. We were healthy all year, 100%, we had a lot of guys playing in the games, everyone helped. I am not trying to change things. I would like to stay”.
Larkin, Calathes or James? With whom would you build your team?
“I guess I would go with Shane, just because of what he has done this year. He had one of the best seasons and he didn’t even finish the whole season. That’s how crazy this is. I would go with Shane, I think he is more efficient. Obviously, it’s close between these three. These are my guys, my brothers”.
Would Panathinaikos go to a Final Four if Singleton and James remained at OAKA in 2018?
“I think if we would have ended up staying together in 2018, we would have a great chance of winning the championship. For sure, one thing is to go to the Final Four. But, we would have a great chance because all the teams which won the title, were being together the longest. I think that team which stay together the longest, the end up winning. They go to multiple Final Four”

Myles Stephens agrees to deal with Vilpas Vikings

Former Princeton forward Myles Stephens has agreed to a deal with the Vilpas Vikings of the Finnish Korisliiga, a source told Sportando.

The 23-year-old Stephens spent his rookie season in Germany’s ProB, averaging 21.3 points and 7.3 rebounds in 12 games with the affiliate team of Bundesliga club Oldenburg.
