Trieste in advanced talks with Devonte Upson

Italian side Pallacanestro Trieste is pursuing center Devonte Upson, a source told Sportando. The two sides are in advanced talks on a potential deal.

Upson played most of the 2019-20 season with Polish team Asseco Arka Gdynia in the Energa Basket Liga and EuroCup. He then joined Strasbourg but played only one game with the French side before the pandemic.

Barcelona-Sarunas Jasikevicius: done deal. Saras returns in blaugrana

Sarunas Jasikevicius will be the new head coach of Barcelona according to several reports.

Lithuanian coach takes over from Svetislav Pesic who closed his experience in Barcelona yesterday.

Jasikevicius returns to Barcelona for the third time in his career. In blaugrana he won two ACB and one EuroLeague.

With Zalgiris Kaunas Saras won 5 national championship and partecipated in the 2018 EuroLeague Final Four.

Jaume Ponsarnau extends with Valencia

Jaume Ponsarnau and Valencia Basket have reached an agreement for the Catalan coach to continue being the coach of the first male squad for at least one more season, until June 30, 2021.

Ponsarnau joined the Valencia Basket coaching staff in the summer of 2016 and after two seasons as assistant coach, he took over the team as head coach for the 2018-19 season. In his two courses at the helm of the team, Ponsarnau has classified the Taronja team twice in third place in the Endesa League and last season added the seventh title to the Club’s record by winning the 2018-19 EuroCup.

Barcellona reportedly offered head coach job to Sarunas Jasikevicius

Barcellona made an offer to Sarunas Jasikevicius to make him the next head coach, a few hours after parting ways with Svetislav Pesic.

According to turkish reporter Ugur Ozan Sulak, Jasikevicius has already finalized the deal with the Spanish club, and is expected to sign in the coming days.

Peristeri B.C. sign Abdul Gaddy

Greek side Peristeri B.C. announced the signing of Abdul Gaddy for the 2020/21 season.

The point guard out of Washington spent last season in G League with the Oklahoma City Blue, with averages of 12.3 points and 8.2 assist, shooting 43% from long range.

Helios Suns added Tadej Ferme to their roster

Sharpshooter Tadej Ferme is joining Slovenian side Helios Suns, the team announced on their official website. Experienced 28-years old guard left Rogaška after one season and joined their league rivals. Last season he played in 19 ABA 2 league games, averaging 14,2 points and 3,2 assists per game.

Next season Helios Suns will again play in the ABA 2 league. After point guard Danijel Vujasinović, this is their second reinforcement coming from Rogaška.

Gal Mekel inks two-years extension with Unicaja Malaga

Unicaja Basketball has reached an agreement with Gal Mekel for the Israeli international to continue at Unicaja for two more seasons. The guard, who arrived just before the suspension of the competition due to the coronavirus pandemic, has only played 6 games with the green shirt, enough to convince the team of his worth.

Barcellona, Svetislav Pesic part ways

Barça and Svetislav Pesic have reached an agreement to terminate the coach’s contract. The club is grateful to the Serbian for his dedication and wishes him good luck, both personally and professionally.

During Pesic’s second stage with the club, which lasted two and a half years since his arrival in February 2018, the coach won two Copas del Rey; in 2018 at Las Palmas, and in 2019, in Madrid.

Barça played in the Euroleague Playoffs again in the 2018/19 season, and finished third (but tied with second) in 2019/20. The team had earned 22 wins and suffered 6 defeats before the cancellation of the season due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

More than 300 matches

In both stages as coach, Svetislav Pesic was in charge for a total of 322 official matches, which included 235 wins, one Euroleague (2003), two ACB Leagues (2003 and 2004) and three Copas del Rey (2003, 2018 and 2019).

Jordan Loyd is a new player of KK Crvena zvezda, the team announced.
The guard just ended this season with Valencia, where he averaged 11.9 points, 2.2 assist and 1 steal between ACB and Euroleague, shooting 41% from long range.

Asvel, Monaco among teams interested in William Howard

After his NBA experience in Utah and Houston, former Limoges swingman William Howard will return to the Jeep Elite next season, L’Equipw reports.

Two teams are working to secure its services, Asvel Villeurbanne and Monaco.

This year Howard played 36 G League games between the Salt Lake City and the Rio Grande Valley Vipers, with averages of 12.8 points, 5.3 rebounds and 2.6 assist

Isaia Cordinier remains with Nanterre despite interest from Euroleague teams

Isaia Cordinier will not activate his exit clause for a European club, L’Equipe reports.
Several major teams have shown interest in the swingman, including Baskonia and Bayern Munich, but in the end the player will stay at Nanterre for another season.
This year Cordinier averaged 14.4 points, 4.7 rebounds and 2.5 assist per game in Jeep Elite, shooting 51% from the field, 32% from beyond the arc and 90% from the foul line.
He has been named best french player of the year in Jeep Elite.

Zenit St. Petersburg looking for a big name at guard position

Zenit St. Petersburg has yet to start the transfers for next season but the Russian powerhouse has already some players on their radars.

A league source told Sportando that Zenit is showing interest in Nemanja Nedovic, Klemen Prepelic and Kevin Pangos.

Nedovic spent the past two seasons with Olimpia Milano and he averaged

7.9ppg in EuroLeague plus 12.2ppg in Serie A in 2019-2020 before both seasons were suspended due to coronavirus pandemic.

Klemen Prepelic dominated in Badalona averaging 21.7ppg in ACB with 1.7rpg and 3apg in 27 games. The 2017 Eurobasket champion added also 17ppg in EuroCup in 15 contests.

Kevin Pangos spent the past two seasons in Barcelona but this year he was stopped by an injury that kept him out of the entire season. Pangos had his best season in Europe in 2017-2018 when he led Zalgiris to the EuroLeague Final Four (12.7ppg, 2.3rpg and 2.7apg).
