JL Bourg made its second signing in as many days by bringing in center Darel Poirier as it prepares for its maiden 7DAYS EuroCup campaign. Poirier (2.07 meters, 23 years old) returns home to France after spending the past two seasons abroad. He averaged 8.6 points, 6.4 rebounds and 1.0 blocks in five games for Windy City in the G-League last season. A hip injury ended his season in February, however, Poirier rehabilitated from the injury with the help of the Bourg medical staff, which was able to get to know the player and his work ethic and that paved the way to the signing. Poirier began his career with Cholet and also spent a season on loan at Charleville-Meziere before he first ventured overseas in 2018 to play for Capital City in the G-League.
JL Bourg continued its busy week with the signing of Luka Asceric, who is the son of the team’s former head coach Neno Asceric. It was the team’s third addition of the week and second on Tuesday after the signing of Darel Poirier. Born in Austria, Luka Asceric (2.01 meters, 23 years old) began his career in that country before spending three seasons in France – two with Lille Metropole and one with Hyeres-Toulon, where he was coached by his father. Asceric spent the past two seasons in his father’s homeland, Serbia, with Mega Bemax. Last season Asceric averaged 7.4 points on 38.5% three-point shooting, 2.5 rebounds and 1.7 assists per game in the Adriatic League. Asceric has also been called up to the Serbian national team roster.
