Artem Komolov stays at Nizhny for one more season

The basketball club “Nizhny Novgorod” retained the Russian defender Artem Komolov (27 years old, 193 cm) until the end of the 2020-2021 season. 

For Artyom this year will be the fourth in the BC “NN”. The career of a CSKA graduate in our club began in the summer of 2017. Previously, he played on loan at Avtodor (Saratov), ​​Zenit (St. Petersburg), Ural (Yekaterinburg) and Sakhalin. With the latter, he became the champion of the Super League (2016) and the silver medalist of the Russian Cup (2017). 

Already being a player of Nizhny, the Russian defender was remembered throughout the League as a decisive buzz in the ring of Astana, which became the best moment of the 2017-2018 regular season. In the last two years, Artem has become a real specialist in Polish Zelene Gora. In March 2019, he set a personal best with 24 points (6 3s) for the Poles. A year later, in Hala Zielona Gora, our player scored 23 points (6 out of 11 three-pointers) and 24 points for efficiency.

DeAndre Liggins signs with London Lions

The London Lions can confirm the addition of five-year NBA veteran, DeAndre Liggins to the 2020-21 squad.

The 6’7” Liggins will play the small forward and guard roles for the Lions.  The last time Liggins played in the NBA was during the 2018 playoffs as a member of the New Orleans Pelicans, but also played 64 games for the Cleveland Cavaliers and had his longest stay with the Miami Heat and their G-League affiliate, Sioux Falls Skyforce.

Achievements include being the G-League Champion in 2016 also an All-Star and two-time G-League Defensive Player of the Year in 2014 and 2016. Liggins appeared in 34 games (33 starts) for Sioux Falls during its 2016 championship season and averaged 13.0 points, 7.0 assists, 6.3 rebounds and 2.06 steals per game.

2018-19 saw the Kentucky Wildcats graduate play in 25 G-League games – including 21 starts – Liggins averaged 10.8 points, 4.8 rebounds, 5.7 assists, and 1.3 steals per game.

Liggins had this to say about the Lions forthcoming season in BBL and the Basketball Champions League, “I am very excited to join such a winning and upcoming organisation. My competitive edge and winning mentality will certainly be effective immediately in the London Lions’ organisation, I’m excited and can’t wait.”

Lions Head Coach, Vince Macaulay was pleased to add, “This is a great opportunity for us all in British basketball, Deandre is an unbelievable hard worker, we wanted someone that would nullify the highest of European talent and we think we have him, His experience, his team ethos will no doubt spread into our team, I’m delighted we could sign him and I’m sure all our fans will take him to their hearts.”

Fans will get to see the team for the first time on the 15th of September, when Basketball Champions League opponents, Neptunas Klaipeda will be the visitors

Maccabi Tel Aviv reportedly interested in Cameron Oliver

EuroLeague club Maccabi Tel Aviv is interested in former Nevada forward Cameron Oliver, according to Roi Cohen.

Oliver stood out in his first season outside of the United States. He averaged 17.4 points and 9.7 rebounds per game for the Cairns Taipans in Australia, then he moved to Israel as he was signed by Ironi Nes Ziona for the restart of the Winner League season. In Israel, he averaged 19.4 points and 8.2 rebounds per game.

JL Bourg signs Luka Asceric and Darel Poirier

JL Bourg made its second signing in as many days by bringing in center Darel Poirier as it prepares for its maiden 7DAYS EuroCup campaign. Poirier (2.07 meters, 23 years old) returns home to France after spending the past two seasons abroad. He averaged 8.6 points, 6.4 rebounds and 1.0 blocks in five games for Windy City in the G-League last season. A hip injury ended his season in February, however, Poirier rehabilitated from the injury with the help of the Bourg medical staff, which was able to get to know the player and his work ethic and that paved the way to the signing. Poirier began his career with Cholet and also spent a season on loan at Charleville-Meziere before he first ventured overseas in 2018 to play for Capital City in the G-League.

JL Bourg continued its busy week with the signing of Luka Asceric, who is the son of the team’s former head coach Neno Asceric. It was the team’s third addition of the week and second on Tuesday after the signing of Darel Poirier. Born in Austria, Luka Asceric (2.01 meters, 23 years old) began his career in that country before spending three seasons in France – two with Lille Metropole and one with Hyeres-Toulon, where he was coached by his father. Asceric spent the past two seasons in his father’s homeland, Serbia, with Mega Bemax. Last season Asceric averaged 7.4 points on 38.5% three-point shooting, 2.5 rebounds and 1.7 assists per game in the Adriatic League. Asceric has also been called up to the Serbian national team roster.
