Fenerbahce reportedly interested in Scottie Wilbekin for next season

Israeli reporter Yakov Meir in a recent article talked about the relationship between Scottie Wilbekin and Maccabi Tel Aviv, indicating Fenerbahce as the team most interested in the former Florida point guard.

Apparently Wilbekin, under contract for about $ 1.5 million a season until 2023, would not have taken the firing of Ioannis Sfairopoulos well.

In addition, the Florida product, who also has a Turkish passport, would not be at all satisfied with the team’s performance over the last two years.

Two of the reasons that could push him to leave Maccabi after 4 seasons.

A return to Turkey seems the main option, as – passport aside – next summer both Anadolu Efes and Fenerbahce will most likely have important players to replace in the backcourt.

Wilbekin is the third best scorer in Euroleague with 16 points per game, behind only Mirotic and Micic.
