Buducnost to sign Jacob Wiley

ABA Liga runner-up Buducnost will sign American big man, with North Macedonian passport, Jacob Wiley. The “hint” has been given on Twitter by the player’s agent, Misko Raznatovic.

Wiley spent the 2020-21 season between Gran Canaria and Zaragoza, averaging 11.0 ppg and 4.7 rpg.

Adam Hanga set to leave Barcelona, who targets Ioannis Papapetrou and Nikola Kalinic

Hungarian guard Adam Hanga is set to leave Barcelona after four seasons with the club, reports SDNA’s George Zakkas. Hanga averaged 5.0 ppg and 2.6 rpg across all competitions this season for the ACB champions.

Barcelona, however, is active on the market: according to Zakkas, two names are those of Panathinaikos’ Ioannis Papapetrou and Valencia’s Nikola Kalinic.

Olympiacos reportedly ready to sign Kostas Antetokounmpo to multi-year deal

Greek forward Kostas Antetokounmpo is really close to sign a 5-year deal with Olympiacos, as reported by FOS Online. The player is said to have accepted the offer put forward by the Euroleague side.

Antetokounmpo left the Lakers to join the Greek NT on eve of the FIBA OQT in Victoria, Canada, and now is considered close to make his Euroleague debut.

JL Bourg has announced two additions for next season, big man Eric Mika and guard Rasheed Sulaimon.

Mika comes from a season with KK Partizan, where he averaged 7.9 points and 3.4 rebounds in ABA Liga and 6.3 points and 3.7 rebounds in EuroCup.

Sulaimon played for Zaragoza last year, with 8.4 points and 2.5 assists per game between ACB and BCL.

Efes interested in Jock Landale

Anadolu Efes Istanbul is trying to bring back in EuroLeague Jock Landale, according to Greek reporter Mihalis Stefanou.

The Australian big spent the season in NBL with Melbourne averaging 16.4 points, 7.8 rebounds and 2.3 assists per game.
Landale has played in Europe with Partizan and Zalgiris.

Anadolu Efes Istanbul signs MVP Vasilije Micic to multi-year contract extension

One of the best playmakers in the game will keep working his magic in the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague after Anadolu Efes Istanbul announced that Vasilije Micic has re-signed with the club for three more years, through the end of the 2023-24 season. Micic (1.96 meters, 27 years old) was chosen as the 2020-21 EuroLeague MVP after averaging 16.7 points and 4.9 assists in 40 games. Micic was also the Final Four MVP. Not only did he lead Efes in scoring in both games at Lanxess Arena in Cologne, Germany, but his averages of 25.0 points, 5.5 assists and a PIR of 27.0 were the most at this season’s Final Four, too, as he caried Efes to its first continental crown. He also became the fifth player in competition history to capture both the EuroLeague MVP and Final Four MVP trophies in the same season, joining Dimitris Diamantidis (Panathinaikos Athens, 2011), Vassilis Spanoulis (Olympiacos Piraeus, 2013), Nando De Colo (CSKA Moscow, 2016) and Luka Doncic (2018, Real Madrid) in that distinguished group.

Kevin Punter, Olimpia Milano fail to reach contract extension agreement

Kevin Punter and Olimpia Milano failed to reach a contract extension agreement and the American player is expected to leave the Italian powerhouse, sources tell Sportando and Rom.

Punter’s contract with Milano expired on June 30, Milano tried to keep him making an offer but Punter turned it down.

Olimpia Milano is back on the market for a new player to replace Punter.

Former BYU center Eric Mika has reached an agreement on a deal with JL Bourg of the EuroCup and French Betclic Elite (Pro A), sources told Sportando.

Mika played this past season in Serbia with Partizan Belgrade, averaging 7.9 points and 3.4 rebounds in the ABA Liga and 6.3 points and 3.7 rebounds in 12 EuroCup games.

Mika appeared in one NBA game with the Sacramento Kings during the 2019-20 season.

Slovenian forward Jakob Cebasek has reached an agreement on a deal with the Leuven Bears of Belgium, his agent, Benjamin Stevic of BDR Sports, told Sportando.

Cebasek played in Italy and Romania last season, with Trieste and Dinamo Bucharest. He is currently playing with the Slovenian national team in the FIBA Olympic Qualifying Tournament in Kaunas, Lithuania, where he scored 10 points in today’s win over Angola.

Virtus Bologna signs Kyle Weems to two-year contract extension

Virtus Pallacanestro Bologna S.p.A. announces that it has reached an agreement with Kyle Weems for a contract renewal.

Weems: “My family and I are very excited! I thank the ownership and the club. We had a great time in Bologna and it’s an honour to be able to spend two more years with this club and play for this wonderful fans. I can’t wait to start the season, to meet Coach Scariolo, who I’ve seen coach the Spanish national team for a long time, the Staff, and to fight together with my teammates.”

The Kansas forward will be in black and white for two more seasons. Arrived at Virtus in the summer of 2019, Kyle has been one of the absolute stars of Virtus Segafredo Bologna: 10.2 points average in two LBA seasons, with 60.1% from two-point, 39.4% from three and 83.7% at the free-throw line. In particular, in the playoffs that brought Virtus their 16th championship, Weems was a decisive factor in the final series against Milano: 15.7 points on average in the four games of the final act for the black and white forward, with 23 points and 10 rebounds in game 3 that earned him the MVP crown from fans and insiders.

Now Weems is ready to continue defending black and white colors and fighting for the Virtus jersey.
