Peristeri announces Glenn Cosey

Peristeri has announced the arrival of Glenn Cosey.

The point guard has signed an agreement until the end of the season.

Cosey played 9 BSL games with Yalovaspor this year, averaging 10.6 points and 3.6 assists.

Olimpia Milano has reached an agreement with Ben Bentil, born in Sekondi, Ghana, on March 29, 1995, 2.04 mt. tall, power forward-center, coming from Istanbul’s Bahçeşehir Koleji, after spending the two previous seasons with Panathinaikos Athens. “The addition of Ben Bentil allows us to add to the team a young, athletic, versatile player with some EuroLeague experience who will also be useful in many different ways,” says general manager Christos Stavropoulos. “Just to get the call from this club and help the team achieve what it wants to achieve is a blessing. For me this is a great opportunity and so I’m ready to jump in and help right away. I can’t wait to get started.”

HIS CAREER – Ben Bentil began playing his basketball career in his native Ghana and moved to the United States through the Hoops Care Association when he was 15 years old to attend the Haverford School in Pennsylvania and later St. Andrew’s School in Delaware. In 2014, he moved to Providence College. In his second college season, he averaged 21.1 points per game and led the Big East conference in points per game, field goals and free throws made, and averaged 7.7 rebounds per game. He was named Most Improved Player and to the 1st All-Big East Team. He had a career-high of 42 points, against Marquette. In 2016, he declared for the NBA draft and was selected by the Boston Celtics at number 51. He eventually had stints in Indiana and Dallas in the NBA, in Fort Wayne in the G-League, Xinjiang in China, Chalon in France, Bilbao in Spain. Before the 2018/19 he moved to Peristeri Athens where he averaged 12.5 points and 6.7 rebounds per game. In the summer of 2019, he moved to Panathinaikos where in two years he played 54 EuroLeague games with 258 points scored and 128 rebounds captured. In 2021, he helped the team win both the Greek Cup and the Greek championship with Panathinaikos (he scored 28 points in Game 3 of the championship series against Lavrio). In 2021/22, he was playing for Bahçeşehir Koleji in Turkey averaging 12.0 points and 4.4 rebounds per game.

NOTES – Bentil in 2017, when he was playing for the Dallas Mavericks, the first native Ghanaian player to appear in an NBA game.

Simpson started the season in Mexico with Plateros de Fresnillo, where he averaged 9.8 points and 7.4 rebounds per game.

San Pablo Burgos reportedly in advanced talks with Jarell Eddie

According to DiariodeBurgos, the San Pablo Burgos is close to defining the arrival of Jarell Eddie from SIG Strasbourg.

The forward is recovering from a back injury.

Eurohoops  adds that Panathinaikos was also interested in the player.

Eddie spent last season with Fenerbahce, where he averaged 8 points per game between Euroleague and BSL, shooting 49% from long range.

Winston Shepard signs with BC Odessa

Former San Diego State forward Winston Shepard has signed a deal with BC Odessa in Ukraine, his agency, SLASH Sports, told Sportando.

Shepard played last season in Hungary for Atomeromu, averaging 12.9 points, 6.1 rebounds and 3.5 assists per game. He also had a brief stint in the Dominican Republic.

BC Odessa is currently 6-10 in Ukraine’s Superleague this season.

Surne Bilbao Basket lands Stefan Peno

Stefan Peno is a new player of Surne Bilbao Basket, the Spanish team announced.

The guard spent last season with SC Rasta Vechta, where he averaged 6 points and 4.2 assist per game.

The big man started the season in Mexico with Solis, where he averaged 10.5 points, 4 rebounds and 1.8 assists.

Maurice Watson exercised the exit clause from his deal with Twarde Pierniki Torun, the Polish team announced.

The point guard had a great start to the season in the Polish league, with averages of 17.6 points (47% FG, 33% 3p, 75% FT), 10.9 assists and 1.9 steals.

Samsung Thunders signs Thomas Robinson

Thomas Robinson is a new player of Samsung Thunders.

 

The Kansas product, who will replace the injured Isaiah Hicks, last played in BSN with the Cangrejeros de Santurce, where he averaged 17.3 points and 9.9 rebounds per game.

Cedevita Olimpija pursuing Pierre Jackson

ABA Liga and EuroCup club Cedevita Olimpija Ljubljana has offered guard Pierre Jackson a deal, sources told Sportando.

The team is looking to add backcourt depth after they parted ways with Marcus Keene, who recently moved to Varese in Italy. It was reported last Thursday by Slovenian media that Cedevita Olimpija was also interested in Yogi Ferrell, who parted ways with Panathinaikos.

Jackson is a 30-year-old veteran with some experience in both the NBA and EuroLeague. During the 2020-21 season, he had brief stints with Turkey’s Galatasaray (19.4 PTS, 8.9 AST in 7 GP) and French club JL Bourg (4.0 PTS in 10 MIN, 3 GP).
