Maccabi and Giannis Sfairopoulos part ways

Maccabi Playtika Tel Aviv’s Owners and management met today coach Giannis Sfairopoulos and came to a conclusion that the coach will step down from his duties. The experienced coach, who directed the yellows to winning the last three Israeli championships and last year’s State Cup, will leave the team after over three years at the helm alongside assistant coach Vassilis Geragotelis. Avi Even will serve as interim head coach.

Maccabi Tel Aviv Basketball Club wishes to thank coach Giannis Sfairopoulos for changing the culture in the team when he arrived, his contribution to elevating young players and coaches, leading the team to a secured EuroLeague playoffs spot in the unfinished 2019/20 season and of course orchestrating three consecutive Israeli championships, one State Cup and two Winner Cups during his three-and-a-half seasons on the sidelines, while creating a special connection to the Maccabi spirit and legacy. Real Madrid reportedly in advanced talks with Shane Larkin for next season

According to Jose Ignacio Huguet of Mundo Deportivo, Real Madrid has reached a verbal agreement with Shane Larkin for the next season.

The parties would be in advanced negotiations, and Real Madrid would have begun to negotiate with Baskonia  to waive the ‘derecho de tanteo’ they maintain over the Miami(FL) product in Endesa League.

The point guard played for Vitoria’s side in the 2016-17 season.

This year Larkin is producing 14.8 points, 3.1 rebounds and 5.3 assists per game in Euroleague.

Larkin’s arrival at Real Madrid would mean the departure of one of the two playmakers,  Nigel Williams-Goss or Thomas Heurtel.

Nadir Hifi signs two-year contract extension with ESSM Le Portel

ESSM Le Portel has announced the extension of Nadir Hifi’s contract until 2024.

This season, the 19-year-old Algerian is scoring 4.9 points in 12 minutes per game in BetClic Elite, and over 15 points and 7 assists per game in LNB Espoirs.

SIG Strasbourg lands Jordan Howard

SIG Strasbourg has announced the arrival of Jordan Howard.

The Puerto Rican guard will replace the injured John Roberson.

Howard started the season in G-League with the Capitanes of Mexico City, where he scored 15.4 points per game, shooting 46% from long range.

Hamburg Towers have announced the arrival of Trevon Bluiett.

The forward out of Xavier had started the season in Turkey with Besiktas (9.7 ppg, 2.9 rpg in BCL).

D’Mitrik Trice joins brother Travis in Slask Wroclaw

D’Mitrik Trice is joining his brother Travis in Poland.
D’Mitrik will play for Slask Wroclaw along with Travis.
D’Mitrik started the season with Fos Sur Mer averaging 5.2ppg.

Panathinaikos lands Nikos Chougkaz

Panathinaikos have announced the arrival of Nikos Chougkaz, who will join the team tomorrow.

The former Northwestern State power forward had started the season on loan at Ionikos, producing 13.8 points and 6.3 rebounds per game in the FIBA Europe Cup, and 7.2 + 5.6 in the Greek league.

Tekele Cotton returns to MHP Riesen Ludwisburg

Ludwisburg have announced the return of Tekele Cotton with a deal until the end of the season.

The Wichita State product played with the German team from 2015 to 2017.

Last year Cotton produced over 14 points and 3 assists per game in the Italian A2 with Tramec Cento.

Josh Perkins leaves Happy Casa Brindisi to sign with Petkimspor

Josh Perkins has parted ways with Happy Casa Brindisi and has a deal in place with Petkimspor of the Turkish BSL, sources told Sportando.

The former Gonzaga guard averaged 10.3 points and 5.7 assists per game for the Italian team in the Lega Basket Serie A.

By signing Perkins, Petkimspor adds some more backcourt depth as they try to avoid the relegation to the second division of Turkey.

John Holland returns to Unics Kazan

Unics Kazan has announced the return of John Holland.

Last year the guard played 43 games with the Russian team between Eurocup (10.3 ppg, 2.3 apg, 1.6 spg) and VTB League (9.1 ppg, 1.8 apg).

Holland signed a contract until the end of the season.

Le Portel has announced the departure of Lazeric Jones.

The UCLA product averaged 4.2ppg in 5 games.
