The Houston Rockets announced that they will retire Elvin Hayes’ no.44 jersey on November 18 during the game against the Indiana Pacers.
Hayes has played in 1971-1972 for the Rockets and from 1981 to 1984.
Hayes was nicknamed “the Big E” and was inducted in the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame.
Hayes is also known for his longevity, being third all-time in NBA minutes played (at 50,000), and missing only nine games during his 16 season career.
