During his jersey retirement ceremony, Olympiacos icon Georgios Printezis gave a deeply moving speech in which he expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the club and its fans.
“Today I feel very happy because I am experiencing this dedicated ceremony.
The emotions are special. I remember the first time I stepped onto the pitch. I was standing in the corner trying to find out where I was.
Human bonds, respect, are above everything, even the trophies I won. I didn’t expect any of this when I came here in 1996-97. I was lucky to grow up with Olympiacos and those feelings stayed with me.
Coach Bartzokas helped me a lot with my athleticism. I will always remember his influence.
Coach Sfairopoulos believed in me even when I was injured. We achieved a lot together and I really appreciated his support.
I feel like the highest paid player ever, not financially, but because of the love you fans have given me and continue to give me.
The love you have shown me is unparalleled. I feel very lucky to have experienced it. Thank you all”.
