Phoenix Suns Acquire Three First-Round Picks in Trade with Jazz

The Phoenix Suns traded their 2031 unprotected first-round pick to the Utah Jazz in exchange for three first-round selections

The Phoenix Suns have made a significant move, trading their 2031 unprotected first-round pick to the Utah Jazz in exchange for three first-round selections. The Suns acquired the least favorable picks among the Cleveland Cavaliers, Minnesota Timberwolves, or Jazz for 2025, 2027, and 2029 (some protected).

This trade positions Phoenix to unlock their next six drafts, tripling their first-round capital and giving them leverage to pursue stars like Jimmy Butler, who recently requested a trade and has listed the Suns as a preferred destination.

Currently 10th in the Western Conference with a 21-21 record, Phoenix is aiming to bolster their roster around Devin Booker and Kevin Durant. For 2025, the Suns are likely to obtain Cleveland’s pick, given the Cavaliers’ NBA-best record.

For Utah, this deal adds to their growing draft cache, consolidating their haul from the Gobert and Mitchell trades. With 11 first-round picks in the next seven years, the Jazz are well-positioned for a sustained rebuild.
