Petrucci: EuroLeague says suspension of flights between Turkey and Italy is not their problem…

Petrucci on the EuroCup game between Darussafaka and Viruts Bologna that should be played Wednesday in Istanbul: These are people who don't have sports culture

Italian Basketball Federation president Gianni Petrucci spoke at Radio 1 about the upcoming EuroCup game between Virtus Bologna and Darussafaka.

The Italian team should play in Istanbul next Wednesday but Turkey has stopped flights with Italy due to the coronavirus emergency in the country.

The game will be decisive for both teams to advance to the EuroCup quarterfinals.

“We have a very serious problem with Virtus Bologna which has to play in Turkey on Wednesday, and is facing a traffic freeze between the two countries. The EuroLeague replied presumptuously that it is not a problem that concerns them. I have written to the President of CONI and to Minister of Sports Spadafora to speak through diplomatic channels.
I spoke to Virtus Bologna managing director Luca Baraldi this morning, and he said that they replied “if you don’t show up at the game you will lose it”. I have to defend an Italian team. These are people who don’t have sports culture”
