New head coach Svetislav Pesic has announced an extended list of 24 players in his first squad at the helm of Serbia’s national team ahead of the upcoming FIBA Basketball World Cup 2023 European Qualifiers.
Serbia return to action following their failed bid to qualify for the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, losing to Italy in the Final of the Qualifying Tournament on home soil in Belgrade.
Filip Petrusev was the team’s leading points scorer in the summer and the 21-year-old is included in the list by Pesic having made his senior debut during the FIBA EuroBasket 2022 Qualifiers.
The squad also includes the likes of Milos Teodosic, Vasilije Micic and Aleksa Avramovic alongside rising junior star Nikola Jovic, with Serbia covering all bases in their initial long-list.
