Trey Murphy III and the New Orleans Pelicans have reached an agreement for a four-year contract extension at $112 million. The agreement includes no incentives or options for the player.
Murphy was the 17th overall pick in the 2021 NBA draft out of Virginia and has become one of the best wings in the NBA. Last season Murphy shot 38.0% on 7.81 three-point attempts per game. The Virginia product averaged 14.8 points, 4.9 rebounds and 2.2 assists in 29.7 minutes for the Pelicans. Murphy, all the more so after his contract renewal, is expected to take on a bigger role for the Louisiana franchise, especially given Brandon Ingram’s uncertain future.
