Pallacanestro Varese reportedly targets Danny Franco as New Head Coach

The Israeli coach leads the shortlist to replace Mandole, with other European options still in play

OJM Varese is actively searching for a new head coach to rescue their season, and the top candidate appears to be Danny Franco, a 51-year-old Israeli coach recently with Hapoel Tel Aviv. Franco boasts an impressive résumé, including an Israeli League title with Hapoel Jerusalem and a national cup with Hapoel Holon, as well as extensive international experience in Eurocup, BCL, and FIBA Europe Cup.

Franco’s attacking philosophy and player-friendly approach could be the right fit for Varese’s current roster. Other names under consideration include Belgian coach Roel Moors and Israeli Guy Goodes, both with strong European credentials. A decision is expected soon, with the new coach likely to sign a contract through June 30, 2026.
