Over 90 percent of NBA players now registered to vote, up from 20 percent

The NBA has had a surge of voter registrations amongst their eligible players.

During an August 26th players meeting on social justice issues, Doc Rivers challenged players to register to vote as only 20 percent of eligible players at the time were believed to have been registered.

“Our aim is to get every single player, who is eligible, registered to vote,” NBPA Executive Director Michele Roberts said to Shams Charania of The Athletic. “There may be one or two players that on principal grounds don’t want to. But every time I am given the name of someone who’s not registered and I or someone on my staff contacts them, they say, Oh, my bad. And they do it. We are at a little over 90 percent. I couldn’t be more proud that these guys have risen in a matter of months to the occasion.”
