Optimism Kyrie Irving could return from ACL tear by January

The Mavericks expect him back for most of the 2025-26 season and are eyeing a new three-year deal

According to ESPN, there’s growing optimism Kyrie Irving will return from his ACL injury by January 2026. The Dallas Mavericks star underwent surgery on March 26 and is progressing well.

Irving, 33, has a $43 million player option for next season, but the team may offer a new three-year contract. Before the injury, he was averaging 24.7 points, and was the only player shooting 40% from three and 90% from the line while scoring over 20 per game.
