Nicolò Melli was the guest of Piero Guerrini on italian newpaper Tuttosport in the week of the Italian Cup Final Eight. Here are some statements from the Olimpia Milano and Italbasket captain.
ON THE ITALIAN CUP
“After the Supercoppa, it’s the first trophy of the season, the first point to draw up budgets. It is one of our goal for the season and we will approach it with the necessary attention, knowing that anything can happen in a game”.
ON THE NATIONAL TEAM
“And I am happy that there is the possibility to go there, even if it is an additional physical commitment. It’s always great to return to the national team. And I am happy that the Euroleague is stopped. In previous years, the players, who should be the last to get into trouble, got into trouble. We are the real protagonists. It was wrong to pull down our jackets because of political issues that were easy to solve. As it turned out”.
ON THE CALENDAR
“We play a lot of games, that’s the big difference. Baskonia are doing well in the Euroleague, but in the ACB they would be out of the ACB play-offs. Alba Berlin is struggling in the league. I give two examples. You play too many bad games. And with this schedule you have no time to recover from injuries. You are out for 10 days and miss five games”.
