Olimpia Milano has reached a two-year agreement with Johannes Voigtmann, born in Cologne, Germany, on September 30, 1992, 2.11 mt. tall, coming from CSKA Moscow. “I’m happy to join such a prestigious team, with high ambitions. I hope to help the team accomplish its goals, I understand that they are very high and the expectations are very high. This is one more reason to come and contribute,” Voigtmann says. “Johannes completes our big men department with the characteristics we were looking for: height, shooting, versatility and EuroLeague experience. We are happy to have him with us,”said Olimpia’s general manager, Christos Stavropoulos.
WHO IS VOIGTMANN – Johannes Voigtmann made his professional debut with the Jena basketball team. In 2012, he moved to the Skyliners in Frankfurt and stayed there until 2016 (the same season, they won the FIBA Europe Cup) when he landed in Spain, at Baskonia, where he also made his debut at the EuroLeague level. In Vitoria, he stayed three seasons. Before the 2019/20 season, he moved to CSKA Moscow for three more seasons, winning the VTB League in 2021 and reaching the EuroLeague Final Four at the end of the same season.
In the EuroLeague, he has 185 career appearances averaging 8.5 points per game, shooting 62.2 percent from two, 40.4 percent from three and 5.3 rebounds per game. During the last season in Moscow, he averaged 8.4 points per game with 4.0 rebounds, 67.4 percent from two, 85.0 percent from the line and 40.0 percent from three-point range.
NOTES – Voigtmann played for the German national team at the 2017 and the 2022 European Championships, at the 2019 World Cup and at the 2021 Olympics. In 2015, he was voted the best young player and most improved player in the German league.
