Olimpia Milano has reached an agreement until 2025 with Ismael Kamagate, a 2.11 mt. tall center, born on January 17, 2001, in Paris, France, coming from Paris Basketball of the French League and the Eurocup. “We wanted Kamagate because he is a young, modern player, with peculiar skills as the ability to play above the rim, both on offense and defense. He is a very motivated player who, after an excellent Eurocup season, has the chance to help a EuroLeague team lie Olimpia,” Olimpia’s general manager Christos Stavropoulos said. “I’m glad to be a part of historic club like Olimpia Milan, I can’t wait to getting back to work and help the team keep winning as it did over the last few seasons. I’m anxious to start and get to know my new fans.”
WHO IS KAMAGATE? – Born in Paris from a family of Ivorian origins, Ismael Kamagate began playing basketball at the age of 12 in a small club in Paris, then moved on to Paris-Levallois and finally to Orleans where he made his professional debut. In 2019, he moved to Paris Basketball where he played for the last four seasons, the first two in the Pro B division. In 2021 he won the French second division championship, averaging 8.9 points and 7.1 rebounds per game. In 2021/22 he made his debut in the top French league and finished the season with 11.3 points and 6.3 rebounds per game while being named defensive player of the year. Over the last season, moving from 27.0 to 22.1 minutes per game, he averaged 9.9 points and grabbed 7.5 rebounds per game. He also shot 75.3 percent from the field. For the second consecutive year he was included in the All-Star teams. In 2022/23 he also made his debut in the Eurocup where over 20 appearances, he averaged 9.2 points per game, 8.4 rebounds (fourth overall), 17.2 of index rating (11th) and 1.5 blocks per game (first overall). He was also second in two-point shooting on 76.3 percent (he also converted 80.4 percent of his free throws).
