The incident began with Nurkic committing an offensive foul on Daniel Gafford and escalated quickly when Nurkic swung at Marshall, who retaliated with a punch. Washington then shoved Nurkic to the ground.

Referees reviewed the play and ruled all three players ejected. Suns coach Mike Budenholzer called the incident “not good for the game,” while Kevin Durant expressed regret over the situation, highlighting the likely suspensions and fines for the involved players.
