Nikola Jokic says Victor Wembanyama ‘is gonna change the game, 100%’

Wembanyama is averaging 19.2 points, 9.5 rebounds, 2.6 assists, 1.3 steals and 2.6 blocks per game.

Nikola Jokic had some important words for Victor Wembanyama after the game between the defending champions and the San Antonio Spurs.

Jokic was one-assist away from a triple-double with 39 points, 11 rebounds and 9 assists, while ‘Wemby’ scored 22 points with 11 rebounds, 6 steals and 4 blocks against the Nuggets in just 25 minutes.

“He is 19 years old. He is not getting scared of getting tired. He’s playing hard,” Nikola Jokic said. “… He doesn’t take it for granted. He’s making mistakes, which is normal. I think the media around him doesn’t help him, but he’s gonna get used to it. He’s gonna change the game, 100%. And he’s already on that path…

“The guy is guarding everybody on the floor. He can literally guard one through five,” Jokic said. “And I think that’s a good thing for him, just to learn every possible spot on the floor. Just experience-wise. I’m sure for him it’s hard to chase guys around, just because he was probably playing center back in France.”

According to Statmuse, the French rookie so far has 67 between steals and blocks, first in the entire league ahead of Brook Lopez and Anthony Davis.
