Nemanja Zoric: Hapoel Tel Aviv wants Russell Westbrook. But is it really possible?

Reports from Serbia suggest that Hapoel Tel Aviv has made an offer for Westbrook that is "unprecedented in Europe."

Serbian reporter Nemanja Zoric reported something incredible. Hapoel Tel Aviv is planning to make a never-before-seen offer in an attempt to convince Russell Westbrook to play in Europe.

After winning the EuroCup, the Israeli club will play in the EuroLeague and is looking to build a competitive roster. Last season, Hapoel brought Patrick Beverley to Europe, but he is nowhere near Westbrook’s level.

The Denver Nuggets player is one of the top 20 scorers of all time in the NBA. He is also a former MVP (2017) and a nine-time All-NBA Team member. Throughout his career, Westbrook has earned $345,897,096 from NBA contracts alone. However, in July 2024, he signed a two-year, $6.8 million contract with the Nuggets—one of the lowest figures of his career given his age and current standing.

In the EuroLeague, $5 million is waiting for Vasilije Micic, who will return to Europe after an unsuccessful stint in the NBA. Other EuroLeague stars earn between €2 million and €3 million, with rare exceptions slightly above €3 million.
