According to The Times, the NBA is nearing an agreement to host a regular season game in Manchester, at the Co-op Live Arena, which will become Europe’s largest basketball venue with a 23,500-seat capacity.
This initiative is linked to the potential creation of a new basketball franchise in Manchester, which could compete in an NBA Europe league starting in 2026-27. The City Football Group, owner of both the arena and Manchester City, is involved in the deal, with discussions about a possible Paris-based team connected to Paris Saint-Germain.
“We had great meetings in Paris and are continuing to explore opportunities in Europe,” said NBA Deputy Commissioner Mark Tatum.
The NBA has long been expanding internationally, recently hosting San Antonio Spurs vs. Indiana Pacers in Paris as part of its global outreach.
