Baskonia player Chima Moneke has no doubts about the future path of the Detroit Pistons in the EuroLeague. In fact, the former NBA player said in an interview with Eurohoops that the Pistons could “at best aspire to play-in if they play one season in the EuroLeague”.
Moneke’s words
“People have to start asking themselves: think about all the young players they have. If they had to deal with European coaches, they wouldn’t do so well. It’s not about the rules of basketball, it’s about what they’re used to. Over there, guys are averaging 20 points or more, but here in Europe, the game lasts 40 minutes, you don’t decide everything in the first quarter. How would they cope with that? Over there they average 26 minutes a game, here they would average 14 minutes”.
This season, the Detroit Pistons have the worst record in the NBA at 6-43 and have lost 28 consecutive games, the worst run in league history.
