Monaco bounces back by holding off Valencia

Obradovic’s side is now one win away from securing a playoff berth after a 79-78 home win over Spanish side

AS Monaco inched closer to a place in the playoffs after holding off the visiting Valencia Basket 79-78 on Friday night. This victory improved Monaco to 20-11 on the season and one win away from securing a playoff berth. Valencia dropped to 14-17, meaning it now has a share of the 10th-best record.

Valencia held one lead the entire night, 59-61 lead midway through the fourth quarter, but Monaco answered with a 10-1 run that featured three dunks from Donta Hall. Valencia refused to go away, but Hall iced the game with two free throws 4.1 with seconds to go, making it 79-75 before Chris Jones hit a half-court buzzer-beater to end the game.

Mike James turned it on in the third quarter and finished with 17 points. Jaron Blossomgame also scored 17, a new career high for him, with 14 coming in the first half as he was perfect 7 for 7 from the floor. For the visitors, Semi Ojeleye has a career-high 22 points and 6 rebounds. Chris Jones finished with 15 points, while Justin Anderson and Damien Inglis scored 11 apiece.
