The Miami Heat have officially announced the acquisition of Giannis Antetokounmpo and Bobby Portis Jr. from the Milwaukee Bucks. Milwaukee receives Tyler Herro, Kasparas Jakučionis, Jaime Jaquez Jr., Kel’el Ware, three first-round picks, one first-round pick swap and one second-round pick.
Pat Riley called the move “one of the great trades in HEAT history,” highlighting Giannis as one of the top five players in the NBA and Portis Jr. as one of the best power forwards. Antetokounmpo will wear number 34, while Portis Jr. will wear number 95.
Giannis joins Miami with a Hall of Fame résumé: 2021 NBA champion, two-time MVP, 2021 Finals MVP, 2020 Defensive Player of the Year and 10-time All-Star. Last season, he averaged 27.6 points, 9.8 rebounds and 5.4 assists while shooting a career-high 62.4% from the field.
